was less of a mouthful than explaining I've got multiple food allergies coupled with texture sensitivities and pickiness
my primary no-go allergy is with dairy... was told years ago I have a "hyper-allergy" to dairy, not lactose intolerant, etc ( which is what people naturally assume )
the bad, albiet humorous, thing about this is I - quite literally - get drunk off of dairy... but the hangover is THE worst, worse than ANY alcohol hangover *ugh*
I'm also allergic to most vegetables ( trust me, this is a bitch in today's "you HAVE to eat veggies" asshat mentality )
weirdly I have a wheat allergy, but it depends on how it's cooked/what it's in - I eat several things with wheat with zero issue... but other things - like wheat pancakes - I'll be v'ing within an hour :( *shivers*
and a few others I scarcely remember that hardly affect me much *shrugs*
this has led me to aquiring what some would consider very awkward and sometimes unusual tastes - at certain places I've learned to order particular things, which friends have caught onto down the years *laughs*
( there've been more than one instance where they've ordered my food before I could get a word out *laughs* )
it's nowhere near as simple as just saying "I'm picky" because that tends to piss off people - or just have people say "whatever, just fucking eat it"
to which I am less than a step away from slitting their throat in two and saying "whatever, just heal it"
...but that tends to be frowned upon in today's society ;)
now that I have a passport, I know full well this will make international travelling quite interesting, depending upon where I go...
some places I know full well have limited food options, to say the least *sighs* :(
but thankfully there are usually options available - and I've simply learned to get by/survive around these situations... even if I do piss off a few people in the process who just don't understand and think I'm being offensive
**coughs**fuckoff**coughs**
ANYways - as time passes, intriguing conundrums sometimes occur as well...
I used to be able to go just about anywhere and ask for a 'Plain (Ham)Burger'
however apparently to restaurants nowadays that just means no cheese but they'll keep the rest of the f'n toppings *growls/gags*
SO... what I now have to ask for, which is weirdly absurd, is '(Ham)Burger No Toppings & No Cheese' - which'll lead to the moronic "do you want cheese/lettuce/etc" - NO, I said 'No Toppings'
*sighs*
but at least it supersedes the horrific results I was getting recently with 'Plain (Ham)Burger' *yeesh*
...and, annoyingly enough, I had even a couple restaurants straight out say "we can't make it like that"
*aghast* - riiiiiiight, the (ham)burgers must COME with the toppings attached, neh? *fuckers*
this has led to the 'Great Burger Dilemma' - what most people consider to be "Great Burgers" aren't even good burgers, they only like the toppings :(
fast food is a horrifying culprit, THE ONLY fast food burgers that actually taste good are Wendy's - there's something utterly 'off' about every other fast food burger, oft not even tasting like meat *shivers*
the uprise of 'burger specialty' places are bleedin' gods-awful *gags* ... either their burgers themselves are bland and tasteless or taste nasty-as-fuck - 'specialty' my ass !! >:(
bar burgers tend to be - by-and-large - the best burgers money can buy... usually affordable AND tasty AND demn near perfection :) <3
aye, this depends on the bar... I've had one place f'up and actually try to scrape off the toppings and think I wouldn't notice *gags*
hilariously, as thick & filling as bar burgers tend to be when I'm hungry I'll eat 3 or even 4 in a bar-sitting... often shocking the workers - and patrons alike *laughs*
what ?! when I truly like/love something, I'll eat the 7 hells out of it ! *pure happiness*
I'm also a fan of fettucini alfredo BUT I'm seriously picky about it - it'd better be fettucini & alfredo, for one thing!
...I know that seems like a "no shit" scenario but I had a very-angry incident at an italian restaurant that served me "[their] version" of fettucini alfredo - which was ravioli with semi-alfredo inside
BOY, did I have one HELLUVA argument with the manager about that - who still wanted me to pay for the f'n thing !!
the 2nd best fettucini alfredo I absolutely LOVE is at Olive Garden -( it helps they use a dairy-substitute so the sauce hardly affects me )- <3
I tend to ask for it "light on the sauce" anyways, but OI! ...and couple it with their kickass breadsticks and it's pure happy heaven :)
the best fettucini alfredo I've only had one - a friend made it...
now, mind you, I don't like my fettucini alfredo to be anything but the noodles & sauce, that's IT - add meat and I'll be v'ing shortly *gags*
BUT a friend decided to cook my two favourites - fettucini alfredo and lemon-pepper chicken ...
at first I was a bit chancy, since I've had ZERO luck in the past with that combo - but, by gods!, it kicked ASS !!! *mmmm*
since then, I've had ZERO luck anywhere else with combining anything with fettucini alfredo *sighs* - oh well
I AM a seasoning fan over sauces by a landslide, though as already mentioned I don't mind a light alfredo sauce :)
( and I've learned some sauces you can substitute bouillon for dairy which adds an edge if it's flavoured bouillon )
I'll try any seasoning at least once - and I oft mix seasonings for fun & flavour !
I love grilled chicken with a spicy combo of seasonings... though I have a particular love for the aforementioned lemon-pepper
lemon-pepper and chicken is a kick-ass combination <3 so MUCH love ! ( if the lemon has the right zing, it's demn perfect! )
...and in a veggie-free rice-blend and I'll take several servings, thank you VERY much !
( Perkins used to have this combination on their menu and I'd have two meals in a row *laughs* - and, of course, tip very well!
but years and years back now they switched up their menu to more breakfast-fare and dropped this item *snifs*
aye, I like their breakfast options, but severely miss the lemon-pepper chicken & rice blend :( )
bacon - OF COURSE! - is my go-to food source, though I'm definitely a "purist" with bacon...
do NOT combine it with ANYthing else, demn it... that is in NO way the proper way to worship that which is bacon
bacon is to be properly worshipped crispy and of it's own accord, to savour every bit of it's perfection
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANYways... now I'm making myself hungry & my daughters will be here shortly for the weekend *eep*
So, Farethee Well, for now, Keep Loving & Living Life - and Feed On !
