this was tough, since neither of us celebrated holidays and we didn't believe in the basis for most of the holidays anyways
nevertheless, we ended up basing the holidays on those where I wouldn't have to take additional days off for as well as those her 'family' (her mother/father) did things for
helps, too, that she took more 'familial' holidays, since my relatives are hundreds of miles away and haven't done a thing with them for several decades - nor enjoy doing so, either, I admit
...so, if she wanted to, she could spend them with her relatives who are, all but a few, local
so, the "holidays" ...
I have the lovely spawnlings for :: Mothers Day, Memorial Day, Fathers Day, & Labour Day
while the ex has the spawnlings :: Independence Day, Samhain, Thanksgiving, & Winter Holiday (25th)
well - that gave me a little something to post about *laughs*
elsewise been work-busy and had an always enjoyable weekend with my spawnlings...
they've finally reached ages where I actually understand bits & pieces of what they're going through
thus I can relate better - having no memory of anything before the age of 15 kinda left me at odds for years having, really, no understanding of being a child and how to react/play/etc accordingly or relate to their "issues" :(
they're younger than my memory falls back into, but have segued into something I can lend my experience(s) and knowledge to
the (pre-)wintertide cold has kept me largely indoors outside of going to/coming back from work
most mornings have been pain-temps and I know it's only going to get worse *sighs*
but it's only 6 months 'til spring and possibly warmer weather, right ?!?
I've been on-and-off looking into possibilities and how to go about my intended April O'ahu/Hawai'i vaca - and still saving up, of course
not used to planning this far ahead, though can't set anything in stone until I have the monetary ability to do so
thus I haven't requested the intended dates off ( yet ), though April is some time away yet... hoping the wintertide flies by fast, though
these pain-temp seasons just feel longer and longer every year :(
only so much music and so many movies and so many books one can read before the stir-craziness of the hellseason gives way to mental madness
distraction is hard-won and hard to come by nowadays... though I am ever thankful for my spawnlings for injecting the necessary chaos into my life
I seriously need that chaos - eris & eros used to be "my gods," though neither are much seen in my life the past decade-plus
oftimes I feel I've abandoned them, but then I never actually worshipped them, merely acknowledged their existance in my life :)

10/21 : *sighs* it's not even going to surpass pain temps 'til after noon - and today's THE warmest day expected on the horizon... though this IS MN weather forecast, which changes not only daily, but oftimes hourly as well *smirks/sighs/SHIVERS*
10/24 : a week from Samhain/Hallowe'en and it's a full moon - this should be one interesting week *laughs madly* ... and by interesting, I mean highly enjoyable, if it wasn't for the inevitable demned pre-winter pain-weather *sighs* - so, semi-enjoyable, at the least :)

10/30 : always amused when told I've "become a conservative asshole/liberal douche," depending on the subject - my opinions are 90-95% the same as they were a decade, 20, even 30yrs ago... it's rare I've been given facts & data that alter my opinions based on research & experience...
