and the 2nd to last posting before my yearly "postal" re-set :) ( assuming I do one more post-vaca, that is! )
and, as always in the last eve before a trip ( or last morn should a trip begin in the eve ), I get into this weird jittery/nervous kind of vibe as I do final packing, laundry, charging, etc
don't know what it truly is - or why - since I've always had good trips thus far... yet it always happens *sighs*
so I try to convince myself that I'm just a bleedin' idiot and keep packing, crash early if I must ( even if it means I'll be up earlier than my already early awakentide ), snack, etc, whatever...
maybe it's just nerves of some kind, though I wouldn't know why
especially since I so LOVE and enjoy these trips and by the time I have the rental, I'm rockin' and lovin' the hell out of the road, the way, & the destination(s) !
I love not having a battle plan more than an initial direction or two and people that I intend on seeing if the trip goes well :)
( must be the chaos in me that I miss, since everyone else seems aghast - and sometimes envious - that I can even do such a thing without knowing where I'm going to say or even what town I'll be in any certain day )
travelling alone can feel weird on the occasional day, but it's not unusual for me... I've always done nearly EVERYthing alone...
it's actually RARE that I've ever been with people when I've gone on trips, drove somewhere for the helluvit, seen a film, gone to a concert, ...and the list goes on
*shrugs* maybe now that I'm getting older, I'm shifting a bit mentally ? *shrugs*
but it's not likely to change anytime in the near future, so I'll continue to enjoy it until it bores me :D ( hopefully never! )
aye, if I ever do foreign travelling, I'll have to do so with a little more consideration than these random road trips or flights to new places within the US
probably like a tour or something similar that's all-inclusive or close to it
...and, yes, I would, VERY MUCH would, like to travel to another country in the near future ( next year or year after? )
though I still want to see Hawai'i and DC someday ... yes, opposite ends of the state spectrum, but rank up there in US locales to visit ( not by driving, but flying )
and, yes, other places inbetween :) *laughs*
ANYways... had the yearly review today and it went quite well - raise and % increase to (non-gauranteed) bonus... no negatives
which I think is a good thing ?
at least the GM spins it that way - and has made it feel better than any review I've had at prior employments
hells, the first review I had year had me nervous as the 7 hells when they said I was doing good/well/great - since whenever I was told that in prior employments, I was terminated within weeks *sighs/shivers-in-memory*
but, since it's been a decade and they haven't gotten rid of me yet, think it's safe to say I'm doing well and can believe them :)
aye, got teased a bit today since I wouldn't be returning 'til the 9th and there's a lot of things going on... but mostly just because I'm taking "another vacation" *laughs*
BUT... that's pretty much all I've got - called and verified the rental today, including gauranteeing a pick-up to get to the rental ( they set up a Lyft appointment, since there was no driver available for tomorrow - so good thing I called early! )
and by this time tomorrow I should be at least 3hrs away, in the Iron Range of MN :)
( and then either Sat or Sun in north-northern MN lake-of-the-woods area and etc 'til I return back to southern MN and the Cities on the 5th )
I know it'll be fun - just wish I could shake this weird-ass feeling !

6/16 : Mama Blaze just landed on the deck, did this kind of pissy strut back-and-forth, then flew off... I'm guessing she hasn't been a fan of the storm ( that just ended )
6/16 II : aye, there's still a possibility of another thunderstorm or two in the next couple hours, but ... screw it! ... I'm feeling cooped up and the deck isn't doin' it!
6/17 : girls want to swim before the storm(s) hit... and before their mothre comes to pick 'em up ( no, I don't feel like swimming, but can still enjoy the sun and warmth by the pool without having to go into "look at my pale chicken-legs with mange" mode ) :D
6/18 : is it horrible of me that I found it hilarious listening to someone (unsuccessfully) try to whine-and-pity their way out of giving the required two months notice for moving out... was so hard not to laugh out loud at their pathetic and highly unsympathetic attempt !
6/20 : spent longer waiting for a parking spot than renewing/applying for the EDL - along with a counter woman continually giving me mind-numbing reasons why I shouldn't need an EDL (*yeesh*) or to "just wait 6 months" (with my licence expiring in weeks, yeah, right) ... Oi!
6/20 II : "if you don't remember the poetry you write, how do you know you haven't written it before?"
I don't know, actually - typing up some of my poetica I've discovered I'd written startlingly similar ones before ( though not exactly the same )... and I've definitely overused titles!
6/22 : for all the people raving for Trump to change "his" law ( patently false, but moving on... ), lest we forget the President/executive branch's job is to ENFORCE the law, not create laws - which is what his executive order references accordingly to : https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/affording-congress-opportunity-address-family-separation/
6/22 II : realized it'll be a full moon the eve before my upcoming trip... that's a pretty auspicious start to travels sans travails if I do say so myself :)

as a grown man, I'm reasonably certain I can have bacon whenever I like and almost anywhere I want :)
6/24 : introduced the spawnlings to Alien: Resurrection last weekend ( which they loved )... what should I introduced 'em to today - once I wake their asses up, that is... hey, I've been up for 3hrs and let 'em sleep in this long ! >:)
...nothing with sex scenes or overt-nudity, of course - the eldest isn't quite 13 (yet) ...they've got no issues with violence or gore ( sometimes they'll even point out the hilarity of some kill scenes - or how fake they may look *laughs* )
6/26 : as an officer friend of mine once said, "when all else fails, read the law... then read it again..."
6/26 II : just a couple evenings away from final laundry and packing for the final vaca of the year... to those I'll see : looking forward to it! to those that I'll miss : another time, another place, it's been years before and since, time and location have their way, we'll meet again !
6/27 : haven't met many of the new neighbours ( yet ), but at least one of them has consistently good taste in music : The Who, Zeppelin, & Deep Purple - that I've heard coming out of their apartment thus far :)
6/28 : to those that I know in the MN LOW area - I'll likely be in your area the early part of next week... so don't forget to lock your daughters & hide your doors ;) you've had your warnin' *grins*
6/28 II : doing last-laundrification ritual, charging, & packing ( I always have a tendency to overpack not knowing what I'll want/need to wear )
tomorrow's all set for the rental, then off into the minnewastelands ;)
