As this winter feels as though it's finally hitting some closure, I may be able to try something about the out of shape - though not of the getting older ;)
'Course, I'm getting odd tidbits of advice as well as commentary from the few people who appear to give a rat's ass ( or are just sick of my being out of shape/older )
"You need to exercise more"
Obviously - it's hard... and extremely painful... to get out walking when the temps are 45 or below, which kinda limits that - as this growing belly of mine can attest
because of my heart issue(s), I can only do certain kinds of exercising without risking a doctor visit I definitely can't afford
"You need a vacation"
A'yep - and thankfully I have two coming... a week-and-a-half-off in May and a week-and-a-half-off in July
In July, it's very possible I may be spending part of that time in... [drum roll please]
Denver!
never been to Denver, let alone Colorado, so this should be interesting - I have the ex-wife to thank (blame?) for this excursion
while she'll be in Denver for some testing, I'll be able to enjoy the city...
and, yes, this leads to the inevitable question/query : Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts/recommends of what to see/do in Denver?
I'll be without a vehicle and not entirely certain yet what part of the city I'll be staying in ( ex-wife is still booking ), so that may affect some of what I can see and do there...
but either way, it'll be cool to be out and about somewhere new :)
"You know, there's a Y down the road?"
well... yes, there is... a little over a half-hour walk...
PROs :
indoor place to walk/etc when weather is nasty/cold
CONs :
it costs $$ I don't have - a lot of $$
would still have to walk over a half-hour in nasty/cold weather to get there
would still have to walk over a half-hour back in nasty/cold weather
yeh... the Y isn't lookin' too hot as an option
"You need to see a doctor"
rote response #1 : 'Are you paying...?' - to which the response is always "No" or outright ignoring the question
sorry, but healthcare is NOT an option - NOT affordable - I've been uninsured since I graduated HS and haven't been to a regular doctor since late 1990...
so pretty close to 27yrs since I've been to a doctor and close to the same since uninsured
and that's how it's going to stay for awhile, I'm afraid
- sorry to all the "Health insurance is now affordable thanks to [N0bama]" blowhards, but you're all full of shit and ignorant as the 7 hells
the GM at work did mention for me to look up 'exercises' I could do at work while at my desk
one of the shareholders/co-workers mentioned some 'biofreeze' thing to help with aching muscles and pain
...I bought some of the latter yesterday and haven't done the former yet - but, hey, who knows... maybe it'll help a little
and, yes, I'll still have the pains I've had my entire life - sincerely doubt there's anything I can do about lifelong pain
but if I can reduce/eliminate the new additions to my pain repertoire, then I'm in ;)
today's weather is supposed to be decent, so mayhaps a little walking is in order as well - assuming I can get my incentive going
either way - that's all I've got for now, my Lovelies and Gentlefolk !
couple weeks of twits ::
3/25 : 3 hearses in a row were stopped at the light a moment ago... now THAT's what I call a convoy ! maybe there's a convention or somethin' ??
3/26 : MN leg focusing on "Right To Repair" electronic devices, //so much more important// than Minnesotans being able to fly in the near future
3/26 II : *IF* I can afford a car rental this year, which direction should I head, anything intriguing en route ( I prefer to avoid large cities )...
3/26 III : 'I licked it, it's mine' is one of many things that doesn't apply to the dating world but would've made life more interesting if it did ;)
3/29 : outside of winter & my daughters, this winter has utterly sapped my incentive - hopefully once warmer weather arrives, I'll be less burnt
3/31 : two ghetto-stereotypes throwing shit down the hallway and stairs down to their van at the entry, bitching about being evicted for drug use
and, yes, these ghetto-boys reek like no tomorrow - seriously, they smell as if they doused themselves in whatever it was they were smoking
4/1 : weirdly not a joke, caught end of "weight loss" commercial w/ side effects including "sudden weight gain, swelling, and increased appetite"
4/1 II : in the aftermath of the ghetto-druggie-trash exodus yesterday, the hallway & stairwell smells as if it was soaked in scented disinfectant
the garbage area, however, is... go figure... completely TRASHED - including areas of the v-word and piles of assorted disgusting oddities
4/5 : it appears I need to stop assuming someone is older than me if they have grandkids in the double-digits - my "bad"
