One of the biggest names in country music passed today. In a time before cell phones, internet, music videos, cds, his voice really came through on the radio. His is still my favorite cover of "Me and Bobby McGee".
The second best seller of songs after Elvis on RCA records, he had tons of good ones. Probably my favorite is "Kiss an Angel Good Morning". Here he is on the Johnny Cash show early in his career.

An interesting story i just heard today, was that Willie Nelson liked his music so much, he had Charlie open for him a bunch of times. At a show in Texas (at a time when racial tensions were worse than they are now), Willie introduced him at the show, and gave him a kiss on the lips before he walked off stage. It was a statement of the respect he had for Charlie.
