So my cat
was outside when my step-mother came home. He decided at the last second
that he was ready to come back inside. He didn't quite move fast enough.
So I come home, and see a surprise on the front steps.
Cat was nowhere to be seen. A few hours later I was able to coax him back inside. He didn't actually lose the whole tail, but just about 2 inches off the end of it. I think he will be skittish about the door for a while.

I accidentally caught one of my cat’s tails in the windowsill when I was closing the window. Chopped a one inch section off of her tail. I felt like such an asshole. She was sitting way too close to the window for me to shut it so abruptly. She recovered but it was dicey. She developed an infection that was very difficult to treat and almost died. Never have I shut a window so carelessly before or since.
