The really haeartbreaking thing about that movie was that Cameron Crowe directed it. I was so disappointed in him.
It's so weird to come back to real life after being away for ten days. This must be what it's like when a drunk sobers up and realizes that all the shit he was drinking to avoid is still there.

I watched a great movie a couple nights ago, called Primer. It's complex, challenging, and a little confusing, but boy does it pay off.
If you liked Donnie Darko, there's a very good chance you'll like Primer.

read the Salon article.... I hate to see that kind of stuff happen, but at least he came to you after to smooth things over. He only dose it because he cares. If you were just some schlep off the street he probebly would've just shruged it off (not that I presume to know you dad). I take that same stance here whit politics. The week Hurricane Katrina happened, my conversations with my grandmother (who raised me) were almost in agreement -- shock and outrage at the government's reaction and sympathy for the victims. A few months later, however, she's calling them 'bums' and 'freeloaders', implying that the crime rate has gone up wherever they are housed, and saying that, if there were any incompetence, it was the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana.
The interesting thing is she doesn't even listen to talk radio or watch Fox News -- she gets this crap from fucking email forwards of mysterious (and suspicious) origin. They're passed on by her friends and people from church, so she believes them! And even if I refute the whole thing point by point, she'll just say "Well I've just got to go with my gut."
Well, what can you do?

I did another Podcast tonight, which includes an audio diary of my day around town.
This week's show is much, much smaller than episode zero, weighing in at a much friendlier 13.3 MB, but still just over 30 minutes. I'm still not ready for primetime, but I feel much more comfortable than I did last week, and had a great time putting this together.
