I went to the LA show last night, and it was really great. There are some new numbers on this tour that will blow your mind, and HOLY SHIT @liryc is just *captivating* when she is on stage. She has a stage presence that is just phenomenal, and she stands out in an already fantastic cast.

They didn't do a curtain call, so I don't...

I wish it was closer to where I live, we saw it a few years back while in San Diego

I've seen them several times here in Indianapolis, always an amazing show.

Almost two years ago, I was inspired by all the kids riding bikes in Stranger Things to write a post about a thing that happened when I was the same age as those kids (12 in 1983), and I was riding my bike with my friends.

While I worked on that blog post, other memories from the same time began to percolate up through the...

I've been learning to do the Bob Ross style of painting, even though I have literally zero ability to draw or paint or cut up construction paper or even follow a paint by numbers.

I've done five canvasses since I started. This is my fifth, and it's the first one I'm legitimately happy with. Even though there are parts that have room for improvement, I...

I couldn’t draw a good looking stick figure to save my life, let alone paint, so kudos to you, Wil! This looks pretty damn good to me.
leighgabriel:
I really like this, Wil. I have no talent whatsoever when it comes to painting so give yourself a pat on the back for this, you're a talented man.

Over the last few days, I’ve encountered a lot of people who have been kind to me. I’ve seen people in random places, like the grocery store and the pet store, who have told me that they read my stuff online, and they appreciate me. I ran into a bunch of people at my friend’s show last night, who told me how much they value...

One of life's great secrets, that many folks unfortunately never discover, is literally nobody has it easy. Of course some folks do have vastly less difficult physical circumstances than others, but human brains don't see the world that way. We all tend to take our own problems seriously, whatever they may be. Beyond that, there's also no escaping the ubiquitous realities of pain, tragedy, loss, and ultimately our own death. You might think, given all those traumatic experiences we have in common, that compassion and kindness would be more prevalent, but it doesn't seem to work out that way. Many people are just incapable of getting outside of themselves, and empathy is a relatively rare commodity. Sorry that a lot of folks feel free to be awful to you, and to pretty much anyone who has any sort of public profile, but thankful plenty of others do their best to balance it out. Hang in there.

Thanks for being my spirit guide... seems like when I am facing a struggle, you state something that helps me to breakthrough. You take care Wil.

About three months ago, we discovered toxic black mold underneath our kitchen sink. Two weeks after that, Anne and I packed up some bags and moved ourselves and our dogs out of our house, while a team of hazardous materials removal dudes tore apart our kitchen and made our house look like Breaking Bad.

A month after we moved out, we were able to come...

Sounds a lot like my summer. We woke up one morning to discover the carpet in our living room was soaked through, only there were no pipes beneath the floor there and leaks from the ceiling above. Turns out our chimney cap had rusted through and water was leaking down the inside of the wall and coming out beneath the fireplace. We had to have the carpet torn up and replaced, punched holes in the wall to see if there was any mold (thankfully there wasn’t). It was shitty, but I’m grateful everything worked out, we’re safe and sound, the house is OK, and now we have beautiful wood laminate flooring. Unfortunately, my novel still isn’t finished, but I’m almost there!

Looking forward to reading your new book, sir! Especially if it involves slasher horror! Will you be narrating Scalzi’s upcoming THE CONSUMING FIRE? I loved your reading of THE COLLAPSING EMPIRE, so you better be back for book two! 😁

Ryan was 19, and was home between semesters of college. He’d had a real difficult year while he was adjusting to school and being away from home, and his mom and I were doing everything we could to support him while he went through a challenging growth phase.

I had just bought this laser star projector from Think Geek, and I wanted to show him...

I love Eurotrash dance remixes, and I love 70s pop music. This YouTube channel combines those things in the very best way.
