I placed third for 48 bucks in a 10+1 SNG Saturday took second in a 5+.50 SNG Sunday afternoon for 13 bucks. . . and then I got Rivered in another 10+1 SNG right on the bubble Sunday night:
I'm short-stacked (874) in the SB with 5 left in a 'Stars SNG.
I have A3s. UTG (who is a calling station and usually folds to any bet on the flop, but has gotten incredibly lucky and is the chip-leader with 5918) limps. It's folded to me, so I call the extra 25 to see the flop,
hoping for a flush. The BB checks.
Flop comes 3c-9s-3d. I bet 100 into the pot of 300. BB folds, UTG raises me another 100. I put him on an overpair, maybe some paint with a 9 (I saw him showdown J9o and K4o, so I pegged him as in love with face cards). I call.
The turn is the 2s, so now I can backdoor into the flush. I bet 200 into the 400 pot. I'm down to about 500, so I plan to go all-in if he raises or bets the river, which I'm sure he'll do. He calls.
The river is the 7c, so I go all-in for 374. He calls . . . and turns
over pocket fucking sevens.
I'm out in 5th. I don't think I would have played it differently, other
than maybe pushing on the turn instead of fifth street, but I figured I was so short-stacked, I needed to extract as much as I could, and my implied tilt odds were pretty good if he held a big overpair.
Oh well. It was a weak and passive table, and if I'd gotten hit at ALL by the deck at all, I would have won it. As it was, I caught 99 on the button early, and it cost me a lot when I ran into jacks in the BB, and I never really recovered.

I just discovered your blog last month. Cool site, with a candor I found witty and disarming. Welcome to SG.
