Is it odd to be 20 and be wondering to yourself, "why am I not writing the Great American Novel? Why am I not out there, making a name for myself, fighting amongst the crowds to become someone who can make a difference in this world?"

Or am I just being hyper-reactive to having those change-of-decade fears?

Who knows...

Wheeeeee.

So I don't know why, but when I first discovered Sid on this site, I figured she was A.) and taller and B.) had a deeper voice. And when GoGo went up, I figured she had a higher voice, since she looks so small. And, well, I somehow got that ass-backwards, didn't I?

So I got two random friend requests in the last day or...

Add Neil Diamond with 12 songs, Monk + Coltrane at Carnegie, and Alicia Keys "Unplugged" to my ridiculously strange musical swath.

Ridiculous. I feel old because of the music I've been listening to recently.

Holy hell, I just found a band I was listening to 5 years ago.

Cant you see the sky is not the limit any more

I remember the discovery of my favorite band like it was yesterday, even though it was nearly five years ago. It was 1 AM, a week or so before school started. I was flipping around channels on the TV in my basement, trying to find something interesting. And when I turned to MTV, I...

Ah, Gilmore Girls + wireless internet. This is truly some strange sort of Fritz Lang utopia. But with more of an emphasis on utopia.

Wag The Movie went well last night; Bram Stoker's Dracula works quite well... as a movie to make fun of. Never mind that half the damn episode will be of darthspielberg laughing. It was the first of our "Wag The Oscars"...

Here I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she's gone I can't go on
Feelin' two-foot small

Everywhere people stare
Each and every day
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say

Hey you've got to hide your love away
Hey you've got to hide your love away

How can I even try
I can never...

So I caught Michel Gondry's video for "Heard 'Em Say" -- the gorgeous Kanye West album-opener on Late Registration. It reminded me why I absolutely love this guy -- at times I went "how the fuck does he do that?" (specifically when he does time-lapse photography in one sequence, and Kanye's still in sync on the words of the song despite it being in...

So I just finished watching Thumbsucker. It was, well... pretty good. I enjoyed the movie's low-key feel. The way the movie was sold was wholly inaccurate, but I didn't get disappointed by where it went and how it got to those points. I did feel the ending slightly copped out to be happy, but that in itself didn't tear the film apart.

Have I mentioned...

I think Jeremiah toured with Tiffany's back-up band in the 80s. He later committed suicide when he realized what the fuck he'd done with his career. wink

Um... yeah. Maine sucks. There was snow. Now, to sit down and watch me some Thumbsucker on the DVD.

I need to find some new movies. Yet there's been nothing that has sparked my interest. Anyone want to suggest some that they don't think I've seen?

i liked 8mm. bite my ass wink

give Zero Effect and Smilling Fish a try, they are both romantic comedies, sorta. they each are just original enough to refresh the genre.

saw Walk the Line, loved the crap out of it. i'm all about Mr. Cash.

darthspielberg:
would that happen to be the Thumbsuckers DVD i left in your car, or did you get one of your own.

either way. glad you liked it.

i suppose picking on the strokes would be like punching a little kid, kinda fun, but ultimately, not challenging enough to be satisfying. wink. honestly, it's your call. i thought "last night" was a perfect song, but was bummed when the rest of that album just sounded like retro-Space Hog. the whole of this rehash of Stooges-esque muzak has really only made me love the first three Stooges albums and pre-Warner Brothers Alice Cooper all the more.

i'll try to plan something soon to entice you guys down again. if it's a big thing, plan on an overnight and you're welcome to crash here with me and thepants.

It was nice to, albiet briefly, meet you last night. I remember going outside for a few minutes, coming back up, and noticing you had left. I asked boundcreature where you had gone, and he had no clue. He assumed you had left, and it seems he was right. Oh well. I hope next time we can get together you guys can stay for a bit longer.
