Story of the weekend........
*WARNING*
The following may be found offensive to some readers. If you have been or still are (GOD I HOPE NOT!) a boy scout, cub, whatever...you may not want to read on.
I have come to one conclusion......Scouts camp is like an out door computer camp!!! You know how you can tell when kids are "cool"? Yeah....you can't find them in scouts at all. The scary thing is that they grow up to become this:
O.K....I didn't have that bad of a time. The kids were lots of fun, and made me laugh non stop. I was proposed to, given countless "gifts" such as hand made crafts, locally picked flowers (we like to call them dandylions), sticks, treats...you name it. Sure I saw tons of kids (about 30 patients) but out of all of them, only 3 were of any great concern - and even then, they weren't anything bad.
The only really sucky part of the weekend was the fact that I was working with a 65 year old "first aider". Nothing against first aiders, but this guy was a real piece of work. He arranged it so that he stayed put at the first aid station (which was air condiditoned) and I got to roam the camp with my Medic jump bag all day. I really didn't mind at first because I got to meet the kids and partake in some of the games and activities. I had a problem though when I tried to take a 10 minute break inside to cool off, but I was sent back out on my way. Even with sunscreen (and 12 hours in the sun)......this happened:
Go ahead, laugh it up, cause I rather like the new lobster look!
LOL - I didn't even bother with make up today because they don't make anything in lobster red
In the end, the kids had a fun, safe time - and I ended up getting lots of good feed back on my Medical techniques with the kids. Not many people can make a kid with a bloody nose and split lip (he met the end of another kids shoe) laugh uncontrollably
Just between you and me though, I think they only hung out around me because I was giving out "boo boo candies"
If I were ever to get involved with the scouts though, I would change it to somthing more like this.....
Hope you all had a safe and happy weekend

Kisses
P.S - my tummy hurts
