there was a real nasty one here on Friday and I saw one of the neatest things my older cat puff is deaf there was a lightning strike about 200 yards away huge flash and loud as hell she is looking out the window and didn't flinch she looking at me and just gave me a meow thought that was neat because i almost pissed myself

Sounds like sleep apnea to me, it's not uncommon. Millions of people suffer from it and most don't even know, but treatment is available. Your sister told me that I stop breathing in my sleep (classic symptom). You should probably get it checked out, it can cause some serious side-effects (says the kettle to the pot). Still though, it could also be a symptom of some other problem which may mimic the effects of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). I hope all else is good, take care sis.

I dug a little deeper and came up with a few other things that may have caused you your "fright night". Can you remember if you felt or tasted acid in your throat when you woke up? If so, you may be suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Stomach acid can travel up the esophageal tube and then be aspirated into the trachea, creating a blockage (yuck). In comparison, OSA is caused by the tongue sinking back against the throat (by gravity), creating a seal and blocking the airway. People who snore or are overweight are more likely to suffer from this condition (fatty tissue within the neck can contribute to the problem). I don't know about the snoring part, but I know you don't have a fat neck. There are also other things to consider. There may be a lot of particulate matter in the air where you are now living. Ash and smoke from cigarettes and soot from an oil burning heater may have triggered the onset of an asthma, giving you an asthma attack. You might also have something not so nice... Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea (PND), which causes the same symptoms as the above, specifically during sleep. PND may be caused by a heart problem, specifically, the left ventricle of the heart functioning improperly or with the narrowing of the bicuspid valve located near the left ventricle (yikes!). PND can also be caused by high blood pressure. Increased anxiety and panic attacks might also be the culprit. Sorry, I don't want to worry you, but it's always good to be informed (especially if it allows you to find a cure). I hope it isn't anything serious. Maybe all you need is some good, clean ocean air, it's a good thing you'll be visiting again soon, just try not too breathe too much of the crappy air in the L.A. to San Bernadino areas, it's full of smog.

I hate funerals as well. I never feel I say or do the right things for the family and friends. But we all morn and give our support in our own ways. I know you will reflect on the good that your friend and aunt gave to the world and in that way they will live on.
