So I know I'm not the most active member of this site. The groups get stale and it's the same forums forever with very little new.
I struggle to check my "timeline" to keep up with those I follow. Sorry to all of you especially those I've actually conversed and become friends with. You should know who you are.
The extent of my notifications tends to be that my comment was liked because I do catch up on the daily sets every day or so... and by so I get a week behind. But I do catch up.
Now messages for me are really few and far between. 90% of the time it's a thank you for a comment on a set and for my support. Fine and dandy, I kind of appreciate the personal touch even if the message is anti-climatic.
But today I get a message and that message is from a hopeful, whom I don't currently follow, and now won't, asking me to check out her recent set and give it a like. Well I responded that I already had and asked if she planned on messaging everyone to push her set? Well to my surprise I got a response and in turn it just annoyed the piss out of me. First of the impression that the girls on here are almost exclusively here just to become official SuicideGirls... well that's a lie because I know a few in my limited interactions who were just like me, for hot girls, community and fun who went on to model. Secondly I got the same old rhetoric about cost and troubles of getting a photographer, the traveling, the waiting and everything that goes along with trying to make it as an SG. We've all heard it before so don't try to make me feel bad about your problems. Here's the harsh reality of that situation, you made a choice to pursue modeling in a way where the odds are not in your favor. Sorry but that's ultimately the truth. I could go on, but like I said we all know the story and the tribulations of trying to be an SG.
Here's the part that bugs me after that generic excuse. I am a paying member of this community, and though that doesn't make me special, I do think I should be spared the inbox SPAM. What if every hopeful ultimately started messaging every member telling them to go like their set. It's bullshit and there's already a place for that, the photos link at the top of the page that will take you to all the sets in chronological order that have been posted. I don't follow you and you don't follow me, so I don't feel like the paying members of this site owe anything to the hopefuls or SGs outside the the realm of common respect and decency. If you want to make it as a SG, thats your goal, I have no inherent responsibility to help make that happen.
