HOLY FUCK. I think I can see why SG has been slowing down like crazy tonight. This is incredibly annoying. I finally had all the links to my friends pages set up in the dumb "about me" section and now they've gone and fucked with it again.
Like we really need Sex and Top Ten tabs. And do I really want everyone reading my god... Read More
So for reasons of logistics and stupidity I didn't remove my airconditioners from two windows in my apartment this past Fall. Now it's minus 33 with windchill factor. It's freaking cold. When a plant freezes NEAR a window, it's probably a sign that you have insulation issues. *shiver*
I've been slowly trying to deal with the problem. First I taped over the top of the... Read More
it is so odd that we have to deal with ac units and still spend half our lives freezing our knickers off and yeah a snowman icon would be great. if arch was not so busy I would create one and we could rule the world
Hawksley's latest album is really good. treeful of starling
yeah it was that look that helped provide the motivation for a second. surprisingly there are no photos of that pregnancy
I'm trying to figure out some good music to listen to while cleaning my apartment. It's taking me forever to get started. If I had it, I'd put on Psychocandy, but it's been years since I've had that album in my collection. It looks like it's going to be Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator. Nothing like Steve Earle's hillbilly grind to... Read More
In the past, I've listened to stuff like Flogging Molly or Cake. (two VERY different musical styles) But lately I've bought a Duran Duran greatest hits compilation and since that music was all about dancing, it makes for PERFECT cleaning music. Good energy, nice rhythm, crank it up and go to it!
My apologies to those I've already spammed with this, but it's been making me feel really good.
Curtis Mayfield, "Keep On Keeping On"
I just realized I never mentioned that I got offered a lateral move at work a few weeks ago. Same pay. MUCH better working conditions. I'm dealing with commercial customers now. I'm in a different area of the office, different union and... Read More
I've been thinking about the rich man, the camel and the eye of the needle lately. It seems to me that as I've gotten older and more comfortable (read: possessions not financial stability) that I feel more and more disconnected from the vital parts of life.
When I was poor and it was a struggle to feed myself and pay my bills, I remember spending... Read More
Also, I heard a different version to aaronsrod. I heard that "camel" was a mistranslation for "camel hair" (= something you make brushes with) - I forget where.
Whence, it's not so easy for the rich; but not impossible.
I always try to live a simple life, I have money but I spend very little of it. I think you're right in your hypothesis there. It reminds me a bit of the film Citizen Kane. Where the dude had all the money in the world, surrounded himself with the most expensive lavish items, built a castle of a house, but in the end it all meant nothing. All that mattered was that little sled that reminded him of his youth and his family.
I think you've captured just the right sentiment there, especially for this time of the year. When people are busy running around buying each other expensive things trying to impress. I'll take a card and a hug over plasma tv anyday.
Two months later finds me with a peeling sunburn, depleted bank account and a case of mild depression, the last element a result of seeing surly again, then having to say goodbye to surly again.
Surly's mum organized a trip to Kauai for his family to be there for his dad's memorial. Surly's brother L arranged for a local fishing boat to take us out... Read More
Hey. Been a while. Hopefully I'll be on the road tomorrow, but that's assuming everything goes right...
Sorry I didn't get to see you at Disneyland. I really wanted to go, but I wasn't invited...
Oh, well. Hopefully I'll get to meet you at some point whenever you move down here. We'll have a few beers and I'll wrestle SexyBeast in a miniskirt for your amusment.
I'm sorta taking a break from posting: new gaming addiction + feeling sorta maudlin=hermiting. I hope you are all doing well. I'm sure I'll be back to journaling at some point.
My mom came over on Saturday night and we went out yesterday evening for Indian food for her birthday.
I gamed on Saturday. Yes, the first gaming session since we went on break for my gm's trip to LA Worldcon near the beginning of August, an entire month-long drought of no dice rolling. It felt great to be back. Speaking... Read More
