DAUGHTERS OF BASTET: ninth portal

Outside there were explosions, screams, automatic weapons firing. I felt now secure enough, in the hiding place I had found, for drawing out from my bag the most precious thing it contained: the small, in-16, 1526 edition of Brunetto Latini's Le Livre Du Trsor. Written in the 12th century, it had been constantly, first recopied, later reprinted during the four...

Undead all the way for me in Warhammer, Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings. I like the imagery and I'm a fan of zombie films plus the Army of Darkness.

Still got much work to do on the Tomb Kings, hope to have 1000pts ready for Saturday this week. I remember the Grenadier models, there were some good ones out. Most places in London stock GW stuff more, although there's a few nice little independent specialists in some of the other miniature companies. I'll have to go back to them soon, been a while.

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET: 8

As I sneaked out throug the small opening, the sound of hydraulic brakes alerted me: a gigantic U-Haul was showing up in the street. It looked exactly like a moving company's, until a squad dressed in NBC suits bursted from the back opening....

thanks for the info on Mr. Traven--I actually knew nothing about him --I rented "Treasure" for the first time a couple of months ago & now count it among my top ten favorite movies, & a couple of weeks ago picked up the novel --there was a bit of copy in the front about the mystery surrounding the author, which was the first I'd heard about it , but it really struck a chord with me. I looked around a little on the net & have found out a little bit (including the theory that he was Ambrose Bierce, which is pretty much impossible, but it's stuill interesting to speculate on)

verymuch enjoying the serial thus far.

Once ratsonjulia suggested: "how about a short serial incorporating: an American Indian, five pounds of myrrh, a broken coffee cup, a postage stamp that moans when licked, an exact replica of Notre Dame Cathedral west facade carved out of a neanderthal's tooth, seventeen pixie stix, the delightful Miss Kristi Yamaguchi, a mysterious stranger who may or may not be Bast, downonherluck Egyptian Goddess, & a...

interestingly enough, the title of the piece in English is "The Deluge at Norderny".

No. I don't really feel that way. I am actually scheduled for a civil disobedience training next sunday so that I can get lay down and protest the goddam war and know what I'm doing while doing it. I hate the president. I wish he would die.

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET: Part 6. As in 666.

Did they know how heavy was exactly the egglike thing? A pile old phone books should do the trick. I had to use lenghts and lenghts of tape, but I succeeded in giving the package a package's likeness again. I opened the door silently, ringed, slammed the door open, hissed a resonant "SHHHHHHHHH!", stepped out then slammed...

Aww smile Thank you, that was nice.

the introduction that you mentioned was in one of several editions of SGT I've owned over the years (altho at present I have none--having lent or given away just about every copy I've had)--I hadn't really thought about it for a while, --but for a stretch of time I used it (SGT) in the way mentioned--flopping it open to a page at random when a decision loomed...

I ran the section quoted thru my translator & have to say I'm unsure of the source...but I'm guessing "The Roads Round Pisa"

damn good story, by the way.

I predict that in 20 years time there will be more "SOILED WIGS" than Starbucks.

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET - 5th easy piece

The kitty-like seductress walked her way throughout the place, her tail strictly vertical, pausing, first in front of the phone table, then of the desk. Each time she waved a front paw towards the place the small thingie was hidden, giving me an interrogative look. I wasn't sure...

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET _ 4 YOUR EYES ONLY

- If you don't mind, I'll call you Mysterious Stranger. Or, shorter, Ms.
Obviously, she was not amused. She had probably sneaked in while I was discussing with the postman, and her silent presence could have remained unnoticed if she hadn't immediately started scratching the back of the couch.
She had jumped on the coffee table and...

one of my little hobbies--interests--whatever--is hooking folks I know up with books they might like, but might not have come across...dunno if it'd be available where you are (it's not where I am--but I could probably dig up a copy if pressed), but I think you'd like "WLT: a Radio Romance" by Garrison Keillor.

And now back to our little serial.

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET - ACT III

The sound in itself was nothing frightening. Fingernails tip-taping on furniture could have produced it. But, for minutes now, everything around me had ceased looking -or sounding- innocent. Exactly since Kristi Yamaguchi, in the most unexpected way, had reappeared in my life, bringing back this feeling I had so long been familiar...

DAUGHTERS OF BASTET... EPISODE II

When i think of the way Kristi has disappeared, years ago, it always remembers me of a short story by Richard Matheson called Escamotage... and another one, written quasi-comtemporarily by Frederic Brown, I can't presently recall the title, but it had quite a similar theme: a person vanishes.... her name disappears from the places it was written on (the mames...
