Politics are awesome.. PSYCHE. No matter who I talk about them with.. everyone always gets angry. And usually I try to keep an open mind.. or play the opposite side just so we have something to debate about. Most of the time I'm not even arguing my own opinion because I could care less about what people think of MY beliefs. But then people think that what I'm saying is what I actually honestly believe and things get messy.
Anyway.. the whole politics thing really started out with my last post about NJ law. That conversation was originally between me and my boyfriend. We usually argue a lot.. but this time he actually got pretty angry at me because I poked fun at him too much. I relayed the conversation to my friend Mike, who went off like everyone does when the word "Bush" is mentioned. I should have known that bringing up a topic that's anyway related to Bush would start a Bush-Bashing rampage.
Mike: My nipples are hard.
Tobi: Ohohohoho. I pissed June off
Mike: ._.
Tobi: He actually got angry angry
Mike: Was that your intention?
Tobi: Not really
Tobi: We were having a debate on him and NJ law again
Tobi: Well it started with.. we were looking in my Japanese book
Tobi: And there was a word for a collared shirt
Mike: Mmk.
Tobi: It was like "Waishatsu"
Tobi: And it said it was from "White Shirt"
Tobi: But June was like "Oh.. that's from people calling them Y shirts"
Tobi: Because the collar makes a Y
Tobi: And I was like "But it says "White shirt" right here"
Tobi: And he was like "No, I know this"
Tobi: And I was like BUT IT SAYS WHITE SHIRT RIGHT HERE
Tobi: And he's like "Well it's wrong"
Tobi: And I was like "Uh huh"
Mike: ...Lmao.
Tobi: Just poking him
Tobi: And he was like "Dude"
Tobi: And I was like "No no.. I'm sure there are a lot of things wrong"
Tobi: He's like "You're being sarcastic"
Tobi: And I'm like "No.. wrong with the world"
Tobi: June: "Yeah like California Law vs. New Jersey law"
Tobi: In which we launched into that debate again
Tobi: He says the reason skateboarders aren't allowed to skateboard is because they "damage the sidewalk"
Tobi: To which I said "With what? Wax?"
Tobi: And he was like "No.. they wear it out and it breaks off. They banned rollerblading too"
Tobi: So I said "Well that makes sense.. next they'll ban walking on sidewalks"
Tobi: And he's like "No! Shoes have rubber" and I'm like "High heeled shoes don't"
Tobi: And he's like "Fine"
Tobi: Which turned into.. people not really owning their front yards
Tobi: And he was like "No.. you can do whatever you want with your front yard"
Tobi: And I was like "Oh.. so you're allowed to park your car on your lawn?"
Tobi: June: Sure if you want
Mike: Not unless you own the lot.
Tobi: RJ: Oh.. Well you know.. in CA we aren't allowed to park our cars on our lawn because it brings down the property value of the neighborhood
Mike: Even beyong that there's zoning laws.
Tobi: June: Oh
Tobi: Then he was like "Well you can do whatever you want to a certain extent"
Tobi: To which I said "So maybe you should actually study NJ law before we go debating it"
Tobi: And he was like "No.. I just didn't think about parking your car on your lawn damaging to other people"
Tobi: And I was like "Wow.. short-term.. that's a very democratic way of thinking"
Tobi: And then he got pisse
Tobi: d
Mike: It's not particularly damagine to people, but it's damaging to the property value.
Tobi: Well it's damaging to people if they want to sell their house
Tobi: And it's damaging to schools
Tobi: And the city
Tobi: etc
Mike: Even IF you own the plot of land that the lawn is on, the community reserves a right to regulate what goes on in the public eye.
Mike: Well yes, but it's a trickle effect, not a direct consequence when you spread it out like that.
Tobi: So yeah
Tobi: That's why he's mad now
Mike: Lmao. "That's a very democratic way of thinking."
Tobi: LoL
Tobi: Sorry.. ever since I saw the presidential debate between Kerry and Bush where Kerry said he didn't see a connection between education and unemployment... I've learned to make the connection between democrats and the phrase "short-term"
Mike: Rofl.
Mike: Honestly, I don't care if Democrats or Republicans end up in the White House... as long as it's not Bush.
<*insert Bush-Bashing here><*/insert>
People.. I don't care if you hate Bush. Really. I've heard it all before. Most of the people I know hate him and make a point of it. And I'm not trying to "silence your voice". I'm trying to divert it away from me because I just DON'T CARE. Nor do I really want to hear the same god damn crap all over again. So you're glad Bush can't get re-elected again? Great.. who doesn't? If you've got so much free time and energy that you've got to beat up on the same worn out topic why don't you lose the negativity and organize a food drive or something. Bush ain't going no where until his term is up.. you might as well make the best of it.
