That is so cute and thoughtful. And yes, it looks like a lot of Vancouver too. In fact, it's almost exactly like Vancouver. I haven't felt uncomfortable at all here.
I went to be pretty early (for me) last night. At around 2230. I woke up thinking it was maybe 6am, but it was in fact 0245. I've been awake ever since.
I headed to the first day of Supanova today to hand out fliers for tongiht's gig at the Jube, as a friend's band is playing there, and its the launch of their new... Read More
Just nutted out a production plan for a short documentary film I wish to get started before the end of April. That's the ideal go-date, but you know how things can get in the way. The PLAN is locked down, now all I need is organise the interviewees, get times for the shooting schedule and it'll be a case of shooting them and assembling the... Read More
I have a question to put to the live music loving members of Suicidegirls.com
What is it that you look for in a live music venue? A weekly event which features 4 bands a week. If you could give me a few examples of what would get you to the venue as opposed to say, the generic alt club running week in week out offering... Read More
Yeah, the loudness of live music is kind of off-putting to me as well, though maybe less so if the real point of the club were to have performances (instead of what happens in my town, where you'll be at a restaurant and there's some live band smashing away as loud as possible, making ordering food or chatting with your companions an impossibility.)
The only time that I did go to a club to see a live band for the sole sake of just seeing the band, though, it was SO loud that you couldn't even hear the music right because your ears just couldn't take it. Like probably permanently damaged my hearing loudness.
So yeah... but on that note, I remember a local electric jazz band when I lived in California that I made a point of going to see a few times, and interestingly they always made a point of not using actual drums if they were going to play indoors -- instead they had an electric drum set of some type, so the volume could be better controlled.
I'm headin' to Sydney on April 4th for a week. Gotta help my mum do some things, hopefully catch a friend while she's in town at the same time, bask in some nice non-humid weather.
I was writing a screenplay for an episode of a project Alison & I are working on, and the power for the entire apartment building went out. FOR THREE HOURS!... Read More
our super fantastic health care system where those of us in constant pain everyday and getting worse are ignored because i can't pay a doctor worth his time anything?! but the US is the best.
Man, did I have a rough day. Last night a friend came over and we each bought a magnum of wine, and shared the first one. I had maybe 4 drinks, and started feeling a bit funny. All sweaty and sore belly. So I lie down and after about 20 mins on the living room floor, decide to call it a night and go to... Read More
Let me go on the record and say that I fucking hate propriety file formats. A digital camera should transcode footage to a universal standard, like .mov!!! ONBOARD!
gah.
Anyway, I'm getting back to reviewing gigs, music and events. God knows I attend enough, may as well spread the word, others might just attend future ones.
