The major news of this week would be that my window to reclass is open....and has been open since 0ct 1 (FY). Naturally, this is good news....it means 2 things. 1). that I have successfully survived in a social climate I was not intended to be in....im, infact, built to deconstruct such things. 2). That I can now move to the next phase of this hellish plan and start working on my actually career. The one that will vault me to where I intend to be.
If I havent mention this before I am the worst possible choice for infantry service....and I readily display this fact. As one would expect this puts me at odds with my employer. It just so happens that I am intelligent enough to dismantle their efforts to contain or remove me. This phase of service will be over in short order. It has be an incredible window into a portion of american society that I hope to never deal with again, though I aware that is impossible.
Computer Networking = the safe choice
Electical Engineer = the challenging choice
Both equal 6 figures in the civilian world...which is my base requirement for this next job. Prime Power Plant Specialist (Electrical Engineer) 21P is the one I am leaning to. Basicly, I run power plants and perform all the associated duties. This also means I would be part of the Army Corp of Engineers which is really apealing. I would be literally going from the dumbest job in the Army to the smartest. A statement I am eager to make and this would do it in fine fashion. The down side is its a year of training and its hard. Heavy on the math and basicly your going to college for engineering. Its no bullshit and I have been out of school for a long time so I cant say how prepared I am. Which is part of the appeal. Not to mention running a powerplant is just fucking cool.
25B Information Technologies Specialist (Computer Networking) is the safe choice because I already know what it involves. I know these guys personally and they dont do shit in most cases. What they do is rack up civilian certifications in IT on the governements tab. Cant argue with that. Its less work and the same base pay when I get out. If you know me at all im lazy...I like to relax. I like to drink, chill out, read a book and sleep. I wont be doing alot of that over the next 4 yrs as I lock down my next job and prepare for the job market, but I want to get to the point that work eats up as little of my time as possible with I enjoy breathing. Networking has a better chance of giving me that.
I started working door at a local bar last week. A job my chain of command does not approve. Surprise, surprise. If they drag their asses out to actually catch me there and can prove im working i will be impressed....but that not why I mentioned it. arctcknight was there...nice chattin with ya. Also women were there....and I caught myself paying attention. It been 2 1/2 yrs and I have not consider looking for a companion till....well, last night. Knowing me I still wont act on this for quite some time, but that fact that door has opened at all is an interesting thought.
