New things to report?

1. Went and saw Teenage Fanclub at the Metro in Sydney's CBD. Great stuff.

2. Didn't get to see the Special Beat the following night for one or other reason. That was a bit of a disappointment as that would've been a bunch of fun if they'd managed to do justice to old Specials and Beat songs. Oh well.

3. TheFuckOffGirl...

TFOG and I had dinner with my folks this evening, as they were in town for a night.

When with my parents, TFOG always waits for the moment my mother will do/say something that pisses her off. Tonight it came with my mother "reminding me" that I (we) owed her money for another meal we'd had out a month or two back. We'd had a...

My dear friend Rachael is now here at SG! She's at ddawll -- go say hi.

Meantime Anton and Linz and I have been muttering about making some music together and forming a band of sorts. Here's Anton and I talking about it on IM.

Anton: [CONFIDENTIAL BAND NAME DISCUSSION]. (That's Lindsey's kinda' funny suggestion for a bandname).
TFOK: yeah, hey, I don't mind that...

I really think you should forward that entire conversation to Susan Faludi. It'll push her yet another towards her ultimate goal of incorporating herself into the common lexicon without any real reference to her sloppy scholarship and questionable conclusions.

We live in melodramatic times.

Incidentally, is there anything more depressing than the Current Events section of a modern-day bookstore? There are so many rows of hastily-written, 200-250 page books with giant print, huge margins, and a cover featuring a smug bastard under a title like THEYRE ALL AGAINST YOU: How Hollywood, the French, and the CIA Have Conspired to Pollute Your Precious Bodily...

When I was a teenager, when Clinton was President, I used to think it was kind of sad that I was growing up in such boring, uneventful, and happy times. I thought all the exciting parts of history were done. Now I wish they were again.

yep, sounds like me.

Apparently I not only have Eemygropp Fingers, I also have Tinklesquib Feet.

TheFuckOffGirl was sneaking up on me tonight as I sat on the couch reading the paper and stamping on my feet, because they freak her out.

Lame update last time. It was kind of an issue of overload -- too much to talk about regarding the trip Stateside, and all of the things I saw and the people I met and got to hang out with.

In short, I spent time in 4 US cities (LA, San Diego, New York, Seattle), three of which I had never been to before, met...

Been hanging out with legionnaire and toothpick in NYC lately, which has been fun. They sure do take their poker and pool seriously in Manhattan!

Coney Island midsummer = more fog than you can shake a stick at! shocked

Still trying to figure out when I get my luggage back. Ostensibly it's been delivered to La Guardia airport. Now it just needs to be delivered to...

Again, great having you here. Did you ever manage to get your luggage back? That sounded like quite an ordeal. And how was Seattle?

Caught up with Anton and Linz last night for some drinks before my trip Stateside. We didn't win pub trivia, but we didn't lose either.

The FuckOffGirl gets nervous when I travel, and she was aghast when she found I'd booked myself into a hotel in Manhattan that was awash with rats and roaches. We saw the reviews of the hotels by former guests on...
