Since I am such a giving soul, I hereby bestow upon the uncaring masses the gift of song. A song sung by that champion Jewish jester, Allan Sherman. biggrin

The Twelve Gifts of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
A Japanese transistor radio.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
Green polka-dot pajamas,
And...

that's terrible!!! i'm sorry.

but i'll see you on tuesday! right?!

No, I did not make it to the airport on time. I blame the idiot drivers on 275. Just because the road looks wet & it's a mite chilly (15) does not mean the highway is icy. That little wiggle your car does during braking? THAT'S how you know it's icy.

I managed to book myself onto the 12:21PM flight. As I'm meandering through the...

I will get to the airport on time.
I will get to the airport on time.
I will get to the airport on time.

My flight leaves at 9:36AM. 15 minutes to get money from the bank, 30 minutes travel to the airport, 30 minutes to go from my truck to the terminal (since I always have to wait for the next shuttle), 15 minutes...

I don't have to work again until the 29th. biggrin

The 17th I trek to Ohio.
The 19th I fly to Colorado.
The 27th I fly back to Michigan.
The 28th is Recovery Day

The days are just packed with excitement.

To keep myself occupied tonight, I have decided to (quietly) scrub my apartment. Lord knows it needs it. While the dishes soak...

For nine hours last night/this morning, I was Mayor/Dictator-for-Life of my SimRegion. 5PM to 2AM.

My alarm sounded its grating beep at the appointed time of 6:30AM. Being the man that I am, I hit the snooze button, rolled over, and instantly entered a dream in which I was running a machine whose alarm went off every nine minutes. No matter which button, lever, or...

Last night--and a healthy portion of this morning--I played Civ 4. Wow. biggrin Even with all the crashing it did on Oninotaki's computer, wow. love

Now the wait begins for it to be ported to Mac...

While I wait, I'll have to console myself with being Mayor/Dictator-for-Life of my SimRegion.

It's 15F right now. Cold, yes, but not Really Cold.

My lone experience with Really Cold came during mid-February 2001 at 1:40 AM in Laramie, WY. It was -38F, -50F with the wind chill, that arctic day. School had just let out and my warm dorm room (actually a room at Motel 8) with BEER beckoned from the opposite end of town.

It was...

To cleanse myself of this week's inanity, tonight I watched that 1932 classic, Horse Feathers. "...whatever it is, I'm against it!" biggrin

To prepare me for tomorrow's insanity, I'm watching another classic, this one a bit more recent. 1990's Juicy Lucy.

While my cinematic choices may not be as artistic or thought-provoking as NoPantsDave's, I revel in my eclecticism.

Two things I have learned today:

Apocalypse Now is based (loosely at times, plagiarized at others) on Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness".

Instant iced tea kept in the fridge for a few months grows some wicked mold. biggrin (henceforth referred to as Fuzzy Tea)

It's not plagiarizing.....it's called "an homage"

I am back from the jewel of Monroe County. Once again, this favorite grandson made his grandmother ecstatic.

It was a nice, quiet holiday, just myself, my grandmother, and her new stove. It's a nice stove but it's electronic. I hate electronic stoves. tongue It's just plain un-American to push buttons when twisting a knob worked just fine before.

Wait, what am I talking about. Pushing...

You know, I was just about to tell you that.

Heart of Darkness is on my "to read" list for the month between semesters.

The used DVD store in town had a couple copies of the '32 version for sale, I bought one of those. I've owned the DePalma version for awhile now.

The museum is doing Apocalypse Now next weekend, I think I am skipping it. I can appreciate that it is a good movie, but I just don't think of it as an entertaining movie.

Speaking of the museum....Duck Soup is this weekend.

Shh...secret pr0n site update on my not-as-devout-as-she-used-to-be-Catholic grandmother's phone line. wink

The biggest topic of discussion this Thanksgiving trip? "Will you still have a job?" (referring to the respective quagmires that are FoMoCo, GM, and Delphi)

Short answer? Yes. Long answer? Yes, but I'm curious how those may affect my benefits and/or wages.

Okay, that's enough of a secret pr0n site update. The time has come...

In a bit more than nine hours, I will be ensconced in an aluminum tube winging my way to the Crown Jewel of Monroe County, Rochester, New York, to spend Thanksgiving with my grandmother.

I'm flying Mesaba Airlines--the bankrupt puddle-jumper air service whose parent is bankrupt Northwest.

Tempting Fate, that's me. biggrin
