Work work work

Man, I haven't posted since September? That's a long time even by my standards...

Anyway, I decided to write up a little something about my current situation, for those of you who are curious... The last post I wrote was about quitting my restaurant job. Let's just say I didn't, and I'm grateful for it. I don't work there anymore though because my contract ended and I couldn't combine it with my other job since they had me travel all over the place. Suffice to say that planning anything, for me, was a disaster. Not just the restaurant job suffered, but everything else as well.

I quit my other job last week. I was supposed to have a month's work left, but they let me off early with continued pay so I'm happy. I get to spend December (the whole month actually) doing whatever I want while still getting paid. Then it's on to the next big thing.

Yesterday, we picked up a friend of mine who's been chasing pirates in the Indian Ocean for the past three months. It was all very cool to spend time on a military base and to see the veterans being granted their medals. She told me something about non-military personnel on board, and I'm considering joining as a chef on board. Apparently, they have the government pay for their education and get to take culinary classes wherever the ship is anchored so this is sort of a dream job for me.

I've also applied for a job as a forensic researcher, specializing in digital technology. Restoring unrecoverable hard drives and getting data off devices that were destroyed in fires would be my job, and I think that's also very cool.

I'll try and post more because this is such an interesting time to be alive. Ciao!

Here's a picture of a recipe I developed recently: a crusted kale stamppot with a veggie scotch quail egg and a vegetable reduction.
