I decided while I'm laid up for a few weeks I'll use the time to learn something. I've been working on German on and off. Does anyone know of a safe way to find a pen pal? I'm using software but I think it would be helpful to try and have conversations.

@elizathetroll What is the difference between "sind" und "bist"?

elizathetroll:
I can't be sure without context, but it looks like formal versus informal to me. "Du bist" means "thou art" - or "you are" if you insist on modern English. That's the informal way. If you want to talk formally to someone, you go all third person plural on them, so you say "they are" ("Sie sind" in German) instead of "you are". But it could also be "wir sind," which means "we are."
