I had a big night last night.

A bunch of us went to see ex-member ScarlettJen's band, Dum Viva Disco (Latin for 'as I live I learn') launch their first video clip.

The event was a really interestingly orchestrated affair. While all the members of the band were present, they didn't, at any point, play together as Dum Viva Disco. Instead, they spent the evening...

So, the year is getting on, and this evening I stopped to think for a second or two about how I'm progressing with my list of New Year's resolutions for 2007.

I posted them here late last year so they were publicly recorded and not simply forgotten (as most of my other, day-to-day resolutions are!).

Here's where I'm at, thus far:

1. - Got my...

I'm feeling very disconnected lately.
It's probably because of working nights and always having to be somewhere else, mentally, than where I am physically. It's tough to be at one with the moment when you have so much on your mind and your thoughts are headed in a dozen different directions at once.

But this is how my life is at the moment. Some of...

I'm constantly thrown around mentally by the one million and one things that I have going on, much of it self-inflicted (personal projects, idea development, university).

Every week or fortnight or so, I feel something akin to a "reset". It just sort of happens mentally. Any issues that were building up in my head disappear, and I start again, and reload all of the projects, one by one. It's not productive but it does prevent the situation you're in.

Without knowing the details, I can only say I've shared similar experiences to what you describe above. It's why you haven't seen me for so long; I've been hiding away working on my writing, but also composting some other stuff. Working full-time and then living up to my 20 hour a week writing commitment (which sometimes was more, sometimes was less). I've found it difficult to lead as much of a balanced life as I have wanted, when finishing my YAMP stories.

The good news is that they're finished now, and I had my showcase onFriday. Everything went well, and I'm looking forward to seeing my favourite Brissy SG kids again - and perhaps if you're feeling distant, uncaring or irratible (all things I've been myself up until a few days ago), maybe I can cheer you up with a hug and a back rub and a catch up.

I will be at the next dinner to do all of these things!

Hang in there. Perhaps we should organise a day trip when you're free? Get some sunshine, have a picnic, do a hike. I've been talking about a Mt Barney trip for yonks. What do you say?

Let's say you have something special in your life. You love this something dearly. It challenges you, sustains you, makes you happy. It brings good things into your world and it makes you a better person. It makes everything else seem unimportant, but also makes this easier to bear at the same time. This thing means so much to you that you can't imagine yourself,...

It's you that's changed. That's a good thing.

You reassess whether or not you want to put time and energy into this thing that's returned - ask yourself, "what does this mean to me now?" and be sure to differentiate between nostalgia and the present situation or unnecessary pain will be caused to one or both of you.

The ultimate lesson is that of being who you are for yourself before being who you are for someone else.

I preach, not to the choir but rather from the vantage point of looking from the outside in. The air is always clearer. Come on out awhile longer.

I don't have anything really substantial to add at this moment, except for .. this is accurate, an excellent description and is a subject much philosophized over throughout time. It's also about stepping out of one's fantasy world, and into our doomed reality. I'm totally going to bed right now...

OKAY!
Finally we have our own Internet!
We've had some difficulty with the phone line, but Telstra, being the awesomely efficient company that they are, managed to fix it up after only three phone calls and two technician visits!

I haven't been updating, as, even though I have been stealing access using the unsecured wireless networks that surround us, I've been trying to limit my...

OK. In news related to my last post; we move into the new place this weekend.
THIS WEEKEND!!!!!! We only got approved on it yesterday. I haven't so much as folded a shirt towards packing!

Luckily I have tomorrow off (last day of Mid-Semester break) to pack everything I own and get it ready for relocation.

UN-luckily, I actually have quite a bit of Uni...

I thought it was about time for a new post.

So I'm sitting here listening to Sting and writing a script about the time I nearly betrayed a friend's trust by sleeping with his (very recent) ex at his birthday party.

My uncle lost his job and his de facto partner last week. She kicked him out and decided she's keeping the house and car....

How do you set this stuff up?
Not that I'm able to do any of it.
(After I finish at QUT I want to pursue a Taiko apprenticeship which means another year or two spoken for!)

Egads, I just wrote an enormous reply and lost it. My "time to edit has expired."

It doesn't matter how much shit you're going through in your life.
Eventually you will be able to look to the Heavens and say, sagely; "Yeah, I see what you did there."

A friend who is having her considerable strength tested to the limit helped me remember that.
And I intend to help her remember it also, come what may.

Well, the third strike has struck.
I got a parking fine in Dah's car today while waiting to pick her up from work.

She says she'll pay it as I was there for her, but I still want her to transfer it into my name (it was issued under her registration) so it can be added to the ever-growing list of fines I have...

There's some sort of football event happening in the park not far from my house.
All I've been hearing this afternoon is monosyllabic shouts, referee's whistles, cheers, boos, and team chants.

I'm sitting here trying to write and I'm being tormented by visions of taking an Armalite AR-10 Carbine-gas semi-automatic down there and changing the rules of the game!
