There's a degree of restlessness about today. My parents and I silently judging each other's actions. I'll be visiting my brother, but am now wondering if I'm imposing myself. I realized that I haven't worked on anything substantial for almost three weeks (I think). The Italian girl is flirting again. And my sore throat only seems to get worse.

A moment that gave me pause this morning was while cooking my chicken noodle soup I realized that I haven't seen the original Scream movie in something like five years. I didn't get to see it in the theatre. Indeed, it was one of those films that I had absolutely no interest in seeing (Wes Craven? Was't his career dead? Courtney Cox and that Party of Five chick in a horror movie? I think not). I eventually saw it when my sister and her college roommate stayed over and rented it, and I thought it was very good. Granted, it wasn't quite the deconstruction of the horror genre that some critics were hailing it as, but it was a rather intelligent film that tickled me in the right way.

It just struck me as strange this morning that I'd seen the sequels (neither of which I particularly liked) more times than I've seen the original that I really enjoyed. I think I'll have to dig through that pile of tapes over there and find it and give it another look.
