Back from the Dame Darcy reading at Quimby's. She read a story from her book FRIGHTFUL FAIRYTALES called "The Queen of Spades" about a graverobbing woman prone to murdering dogs, meeting ghosts, and lapsing into comas.
She also brought out her banjo to perform a few sea shanties and murder ballads, accompanied by her guitarist Skippy. She's been on tour since the beginning of March (suffereing from car cabin fever, she sez) and she told stories of yearning for a gypsy lifestyle and visiting the grave of H.P. Lovecraft.
She's currently working on Meat Cake 13 and a new graphic novel called GASOLINE, about living in a world where the apocalypse occurred in 1984. She likes pirates too, and who can go wrong with that?
Instructions: check out her website at www.damedarcy.com, go see her if she comes to your town in April, and either way buy her cd. Keep the sea shanty tradition alive!
