this weekend has been absolutely amazing so far. despite some trouble at work, i've been on a high since VD. i told a story at a local bookstore as part of the area's Story Slam event, the event also doubled as an introductory reception to the professional storytellers in town for the Wintertales Festival. the slam is an open mic competition, we had about 7 tellers that signed up. not only did i win the competition, but i also received a miniature standing ovation from some of the audience members -- about 40 people in attendance.
during the Wintertales Festival, i've had the opportunity to indulge myself in the storytelling and fine arts' culture. it's been fantastic, and a few times i was introduced as "OKC's up-and-coming Storyteller" --- i can't describe how good that sorta thing feels.
the road is still a long one as i prepare to be a full time writer / storyteller --- but the yellow bricks are being set at my feet with each step i take. *here's to dreaming, and taking the chances to make those dreams become a reality*
