My Ex-Boyfriend has been found guilty of battery after he beat me up and then he went to get the police. He now has to complete 52 weeks of counselling and has been ordered to only have safe contact with me among other things. I'm doing a lot better lately...

By the way... if you're curious, he's latentimage on this suicide girls site and used...

I always get incredibly, irrationally angry when I hear about women being domestically assaulted... that anyone would have the audacity to believe that it is ok to ever lay your hands on another person....

Ach, it just makes my blood boil. And I have known quite a few"smart" people in my life that were complete and utter assholes, I don't care how many degrees a person has, abusing someone makes them scum in my book.

glad to hear some people actually get the comeuppance! Glad to hear your doing better.

Soooo eerie... reminds me of a Star Trek episode! Cassini has been monitoring Saturn's radio emissions. Sounds very cool...

The Foam Again grounds the shuttle program.
bepps:
That does seem pretty cool.

In response to what daviddpd mentioned, what do you think about how it's quite likely that the next people launched into space are gonna be people who just paid $200,000 to do so? biggrin

Recently researchers have proposed that the presence of methane on Titan (around 5%) may be generated by hydrogen breathing lifeforms. They plan to validate this hypothesis by using gas chromotography data from Huygens'. Microbes should deplete the amount of hydrogen available in their immediate environment which could be potentially identified by GC. As cute and fanciful as it sounds -- and as hopeful that there...

A science geek!! love love love

Oh, and as for the hydrogen escaping due to the low gravity, that would be expected to be relatively uniform... but if there are pockets where the hydrogen is depleting at a statistically significant rate... well then, we just might have something!

Thatnk you for the welcome biggrin

Watching cartoons... oh sooo bad... Love the diologue in Harlequinade though!

BATMAN: What's the attraction, Quinn? This sick attraction with the Joker?
HARLEY: Look, Bats. When I was a doctor I was always listening to other people's problems then I met Mister J who listened to me for a change and made everything fun.
BATMAN: You think it's funny when he hurts people?
HARLEY: It's...

I was going to write something pleasant about this nonsense, but actually, it's all stupid crap!

Here, my parting gifts to you, an otherwise intelligent woman who thinks films like 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" are good:

The Barnett Effect! That is the effect that I've been trying to remember for weeks now!! Basically if you have a rotating body of spins, the spins will be polarized due to the rotation -- hence by spinning a sample you get a magnetization that is parallel to the axis of the spin. I've heard about this effect only in the context of nuclear spins,...

the material has to be a ferromagnet i'm assuming....or a superconductor?

I love it when you talk about rotating bodies.

And those were rhetorical questions, right? wink
