So I have returned from the midwest. I can finally enjoy the city for the rest of my spring break...and by that I mean spend the next three days in the library. Woohoo.
Last night was rather fantastic. I got to help Blondie celebrate her birtday. I hung out with Sid today, and will again tomorrow when we go to the DropKick Murphy's show. I...

it was nice to meet you again too!
The midterms are all graded. Now I just have to read a book and write a paper and I can call it a weekend.

Hey, thanks for the note in my journal. I'm feeling _a lot_ better, and have been training again, pretty much back to normal. And it's been so nice out this week. NIce bonus for me.

Congrats!!
Hopefully you got to go outside and enjoy the weather!

Everyone, no matter how prepared, has moments wherein they feel a complete ass.
I had one of those today.
My clock battery is dying and it is running slow, which I was unaware of until I arrived late for the class I'm grading. That, in and of itself, is a small faux pas and certainly surmountable. The difficulty arose from the fact that it was...

I can think of a few places to get food after club hours. Where did you end up for cheese burgers?

Why must it be so difficult to get reproductions of 16th and 17th century French pamphlets about witchcraft cases in Boston. I mean really.
Oingo Boingo is a truly brilliant band and I cannot for the life of me understand why I haven't listened to them much in the past few months.

Dorain's name now appears in gray. Just before she left, however, she left a rather eloquent and thoughtful open letter in the Site section of the boards. She expressed many of the reservations that I myself have felt on and off for the past few months. (aside from the creepy/harassing journal comments, as I know all of you well enough not to be worried too...

It was great that you made it out to see Strio off. I'm looking to put together a group of people for Billiards at Saco's in Davis SQ. I left a post with Defekt about this as well. Party on with the books. Don't rock out to hard at the library.

Thanks. Which comments, specifically?
My brain is still numb btw.

Well, I haven't been updating much in the last few days because my weekend illness decided to linger. That and the fact that after clubbing on Monday and Wednesday I stayed up until all hours talking to people.
Wednesday was pretty cool. I lent gumbercules some Hungry Lucy cds, so I can start requesting them.
There was a Chartreuse promotion...odd in that it's a reasonably...

uk- three weeks in edinburgh in college, with daytrips to glasgow and the highlands. a week in london two years ago.
my time in london was a mixed experience, but edinburgh was the best 3 weeks of my life. i'm afraid to go back there, because the memories are so beautiful that i don't know what i would do if it wasn't as equally good.

Well, my VD wasn't nearly as bad as last year...but it is hard to top a 12 hour day managing a restaurant (if you've never worked a restaurant on VD, you're lucky) with a 104 degree fever and running solely through the dubious intercession of TheraFlu and Dayquil. This year I was only mildly sick and spent most of the day napping or running small...

Well, Manray last night was quite good. As usual I was able to enjoy the company of friends and associates, but I did dance more than usual as my somewhat aching legs readily attest.
The highlight of my day was the guest lecture I presented in a friend's class. With relatively minimal preparation I delivered an hour and a half presentation on the impact of...

It was a collection of clips from "Witchcraft...", "Der Golem", and Murnau's "Faust". All 3 are silents, although in the early '60's, "Witchcraft..." was resurrected, edited down a bit, and a voice over (which is utterly fantastic, by the way) was added by William Burroughs. It's basically a pseudo documentary on the history of witchcraft, but I think it was more of an excuse to show women kissing the devil's ass, some torture, posessed nuns, and so forth. All are available now on dvd, and the Criterion "Haxan" one has both versions: the longer silent one, and the Burroughs one. I own 'em all.

Happy Trifon Zarezan (Wine-Grower's Day, if you happen to be in Bulgaria today). So, hope you enjoy your weekend, and have the opportunity to raise a glass in honor of all of the lovely Bulgarians who risk their lives daily to bring us stompable grapes in liquid form.
Despite the temperature being high and the crowd blocking out most of the girls from the waist down the SGBurlesque show in Boston last night was pretty awesome. (If I had the time and money I'd certainly be attending the North Hampton show tonight and getting a much closer view).

Sounds like the afterparty was a blast...wish I'd been able to attend. I really did enjoy the whole SG burlesque night, and thought it was important to bring up the very few less than perfect moments, so that the next time the SG show comes to Boston, they'll have worked out all of the kinks (so to speak...). It was great to meet you on Monday, and I hope to see you tonight at ManRay. If you want to hear any song in particular, just call me up on that request phone thingy, and tell me who you are.
katie_:
Damn. I was there and didn't even get to drink absinthe with you guys.
Sorry I was gone and whatnot, getting to be homework season again...
Royal, you should come visit Boston.
My hair is purple, and it matches the tie I'll be wearing tomorrow at the SGBurlesque show. Can't wait to see you all there.
(Oh, GB, I did get out on Wed...I really enjoyed the music while I was there)
