I wanted to make some comment or contribution to the discussion of Mia's new set, but I didn't think it would even be worth it on the boards.

It's all rather disappointing.

Whatever people's views on religion, no matter how pro-this or anti-that, people just went into the usual knee-jerk reactions. Many people were happy to throw out old tropes of "there's nudity in it,...

Well, my sickness is dragging on for no apparent reason. It seems that all the rest, juice, vitamins, etc are simply wastes of time. Poop.

Last night was good fun though. I got to see all sorts of SGBoston folk that came out to see Pip all dressed up (in my clothes and makeup). Blondie, Semitic, Sid, Gasmaskboy, Gumbercules, and...

Don't give up on all your good habits. As long as the illness is dragging on they may be helping a little. Have you seen a doctor?

Yesterday was, in a word, awful.

When I checked my email yesterday morning I had a message from one of my professors. She informed me that she had to turn in reviews of my work for my financial aid, continuing enrollment, etc, etc this week and really needed to see some written work from me. She's taking me on for directed research, mind you, so...

It was my brother's birthday on Friday and he came up to Boston for the weekend to visit some of his friends. Unsurprisingly I wanted to see him, even if only briefly, to celebrate a bit, but my rather nasty illness prevented me from doing so Friday or yesterday.
So, out of my boundless filial devotion, I dragged my sick and wilted body out of...

Back to my monkish seclusion. The end of the semester tends to do that to me.

Hopefully I can pop out to catch a drink with the Boston folk tomorrow. I need to have a few words with Pip... biggrin

Miss B&T why do you hate me?

and will going out with you guys help my chances?

and you have no idea how funny that sex party reference is. Not because I get it, but for other reasons.

Nice meeting you last night, hope to see you again next week. You play bagpipes!!!! Holy shit! THat's fucking awesome! I TOTALLY want to learn, but don't really knoiw where to start. I'm starting up a funk band. Going to be I highly unusual style of funk blended with others and I want to have the pipes involved somehow. SWEET! We have to talk more next time.

Well today Sid got to have her corset piercings ogled, commented on, and generally paid attention to when we were out buying crickets for Squee. (two of which he's eaten so far). One woman was, frankly, rude about them. Regardless of how strenuosly you feel about not wanting to get them yourself, it is unnecessary to comment on it to the entirety of the restaurant...

I actually had a chance to take a break and hang out today. It was fantastic, and filled with good seafood and martinis.
I get to pay for it in a few hours when I wake up and move into the library for the day...

Sounds like a good day makes me think of better days....

Well, 3 hours of class today, about 6 hours of reading, and errands thrown into the middle. I'm about done for the day.... skull

Tomorrow I get to spend about $50 making copies of 16th and 17th century pamphlets on witchcraft. Woohoo.

Sorry for the lack of updates, comments in your journals, etc. It's most definitely that time of the semester again. I'll be in academic exile for the next 6 weeks or so. (Though I hope to maintain my usual Monday and Wednesday outings. Gumbercules, I'll be out tomorrow and I can get back my cds from you.)
Other than that, enjoy the snow.

Glad you liked the Wicker Man clips! It's one of my favorite movies...and apparently it's one of Christopher Lee's proudest achievements as well. Hope you had some fun tonight. It was good to see you and Sid, if only for a moment. Make sure you have a chance to see Haxan before you return it!

I didn't get into Northwestern for my PhD. This isn't a terrible surprise...it has a great history department, only accepts about 6 or so history PhD students a year, and gets somewhere around 150-200 applications. Regardless, it does sting a bit. Now I need to start worrying about how I can afford to keep going to the most expensive school in the world.
And three...

pip:
Sorry about northwestern. It's a shame they don't get to read your (or anyones) thesis before they decide on PhD applications.

BU is that bad? I thought Harvard was worse?

PhD=Purple Hair Degree??
