Today was a milestone day for me 10 complete years at my job I have been looking back all day about what I have done where I have been and who I have met.
When I started I was hired to help out with a big NYCTA job it was only to be temporary arrangement well it's been a long temp job. I was a huge help in getting that job out ahead of schedule and under budget which led to three Cleveland jobs two Chicago jobs and a bunch of CN rail work. I have had to change offices a couple of times and locations in offices even more, a couple of years ago my group absorbed by another group and we went from 7 to 5 to 2 people in about 18 months then my boss decided to quit that left me in a strange place I was a railway signal designer I had to learn to be a civil structural designer. That's where I am at today.
I had to go on site today to check on a new platform to find out that the engineer who wanted me there has his head up his ass. The steel guys where just finishing putting in the anchor bolts and they need 24 hours for the epoxy to cure and this asshole wants me to climb up to check some clearances, sorry but "fuck you" why are you wasting my time calling me down here when nothing is ready see you Monday maybe.
I got a lot of other things done at the office but I was kind of irked that my boss didn't even say anything about my 10 years but when he finished 5 years 3 hour long lunch and a bunch of ass kissing from every one from his boss down. A little bit of recognition would be appreciated I think I have earned it.
