I have seen alot of posts about holiday wish lists, so i thought about what mine would be.
I have pretty much everything i need right now so i have been blessed. So i would ask you to donate something, anything, to any number of charities this holidays. Those closest to my heart are:
Rileys Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis. My grandmother use to knit and sew all year long making dolls, blankets, pillows, for the sick children of Rileys and she and her church sewing group would donate all they made at christmas along with other toys that they would collect. After she passed away, I did the same thing with my hockey club in a $10 toy donation from any player who wanted to donate. These are sick kids trying to heal during the holidays. I want to lift their spirits.
St. Jude Childrens Hospital. Another great hospital working hard most notably to fight against childhood cancer. These kids face each day with something that would crush most adults i know. Through different jobs, we would do a St. Judes dollar drive and i still try and do what i can long after i have moved on.
Support Standing Rock. These water protectors are fighting a battle against the Dakota government as well as big oil just for clean water. And its not just for their reservaion, but for everyone who uses the Mississippi river as a water supply. Big oil has used every tactic they can to destroy sacred ground and to break the spirit of peaceful protesters in the name of making money. This isn't about just the Standing Rock people, but about protecting our planet. Please help support these brave determined people.
Breast Cancer. I have the breast cancer ribbon tattooed on my chest with Monarch butterfly wings around it in honor of my Grandmother who was a 6 year breast cancer survivor before she passed away. I have donated time, money, and participated in a number of walks in her memory and honor. This cancer is non discriminatory affecting women, children and men of all ages, creeds, and colors.
Take care of YOU! Whether its getting back to the gym, starting yoga, finding help for addiction or for mental health. Whatever you can do to build you, then please do it. You are the building blocks and foundation of your life. You are the most important aspect in the equation of the riddle of life. Take care of you, make you feel good, and it will show and grow from you.
