Yesterday was a lazy day. Lunch, going shopping, a beautiful day in indiana. I had made plans with an old hockey buddy to get together. Our dozenth attempt this year, each attempt before interrupted by my health, other family obligations, or just not being able to connect. Yesterday, i text Chris in the afternoon to see if he was still up to meet or if it was to late. He didnt text back, and i assumed that he got busy and settled in. Last night around 8, someone posted on Chris's facebook the Chris passed away the night before. Over the next two hours were a series of messages and texts to try and get a hold of Chris to no avail. I am absolutely floored that he is gone. He was someone i played hockey with, i coached his wife ( at the time) in hockey, i played in tourneys with him, his wife, and daughter. When i was sick and going into the hospital, he reached out to me more than even my family. I will miss his laugh, his smile, and his big bear hugs when a goal was scored, his compassion and his humility. God the world is so much colder today. Chris, if you take the ice in heaven, watch for Gordies elbows. They are legendary. I love you man
