well, like the asshole i am i forgot about the cannibal corpse show in camden last night so no death metalings for me. it's not that bad, though, since i get another chance to see them this summer....with GWAR, and tim, no less. and i filled the time up with a spanish feast con la familia at pirata in mayfair. i had cochinillo asado, keeping with my new tradition of trying to eat the most innocent and vulnerable animals possible on the rare occasions i consume meat (it's a shame they didn't have veal). i also got to rant about art and politics for almost an hour straight. then i walked the parents back over to foyle's because mom needs a paperback for the flight home, and boy does she ever get whiny when that happens. you know how they say you learn something new everyday? yesterday it was that there's an entire literary genre known as "nordic crime".
derrick got an ox horn in the mail with runic script around the top. he plans to drink mead out of it, and then presumably take his longship up the thames to terrorize saxon hamlets. i got a pin that says "black is the badge of HELL" and allegedly it's from shakespeare. it's actually rick's birthday but he didn't get anything yet, poor rick. i might buy him a cake.
i've also decided to purchase a small drawing at a nearby gallery for a cool 150, which thanks to the sucky exchange rate comes out to about $290. but i'll let the drawing speak for itself:
i don't have nearly enough cash to be impulse buying art, even incredibly cheap work so this means i have to scrounge like whoa to make up the cost in the coming two weeks. can i make it on 20 for two weeks? check back and see!
