Mmmmm, Easy Cheese and Triscuts. A true white-trash hors d'erve.
I went to the grocery store today for the first time in what seems like months. I stocked up on junk food goodness. I don't cook, not really. I usually eat on the go. About the only thing I fix myself is my morning cereal. So usually my grocery list is made up of things like mac & cheese, and frozen pizzas. Every once in a while a bag of apples or bananas make their way on there. There is also the requisite pint of Ben & Jerry's
I got lost in the vegetable section today. I stood there knowing I should buy something, but thinking to myself, "all this stuff requires preparation." Vegetables are too hard.
As you can guess I don't entertain much.
So we finished up the second weekend of The Tempest. It didn't go quite as well as the first. Friday we had Thunderstorms for a good part of the afternoon. It cleared up by six but the dampness kept a lot of people away. We had a crowd of about 60. Also I there's this one scene that I use a CO2 fire extinguisher for an effect. I took it Thursday to have it recharged. Friday I went to pick it up and take it to the theater, and somehow all the gas had leaked out. The fire supply store wasn't open over the weekend, so I had to forgo the effect. I was bummed. Here's a funny thing about Friday's show; rain threatened the entire show, but we made it through without a single drop falling. Then, almost the very minute the curtain call ended it started pouring. We got lucky.
Saturday we weren't so lucky. Afternoon thunderstorms threatened the play again. Around five it cleared up, and the sun even came out. I was sure we were going to have a spectacular night. Thirty minutes before the show started clouds began building. Five minutes before the show started it started raining. It was light at first, so we decided to go on and hope it would pass. Actually the rain is pretty appropriate for the first scene, where they're on a ship at sea in the middle of a fierce storm. The rain never stopped, in fact about halfway through the second scene, which is about 30 min long it started raining heavily. The actors kept going. There was no way for me to stop the show until the scene was finished. The audience members had umbrellas and ponchos, but my poor actors had to brave the elements. They finished the scene and I ran out and informed the crowd that we would have a 30 min hold to see if the rain would pass. It never did. I cancelled the show and we all went to one of the cast members house and watched movies.
Sunday brought rain again. Pretty much all day. However it did clear up in the afternoon. It was damp, but we had a rather sizable crowd, around 100. It was a good show, except it started raining in the fifth act, about 15 min before the end of the show. It wasn't heavy, but annoying. Most of the audience stayed to see the end though. It made me happy.
Next week we do the show with a different Prospero and Miranda. It's going to be interesting. I hope the weather is cooperative. Again I'd love to see some SG people at the show.
Today Zenobia, MrMiah, strangebrew24, and some other friends were supposed to go tubing. I even got the day off for it. Of course it rained. It was kind of a wasted day. I watches a movie and just vegged out. I never know what to do during the day when I'm not working.
