Went up north of Bangor to look at some land yesterday. I've decided not to buy it though. It is 200 acres for $69,500. Which may seem cheap where you live, but is a little more pricey than I'm used to. It has paved road frontage, which is good, but I'd have to immediately invest in a couple of gates, because people are already dumping their old appliances and trash in the sand pit. The rest of the property is wooded, but the trees aren't a lot bigger than the ones on the property I bought less than two years ago; and that land is a lot closer to Bangor, has more road frontage, with utilities already in place, and I only paid a little over $200 an acre. Also, on the land I looked at yesterday, the damned beavers are at work flooding out the low lying areas around a stream, which could make a future tree harvest more difficult, not to mention killing trees in the process. I still think that if I could get a really good deal on some land, I might buy some more. We shall see.
