---Begin text-based teaser---

This has promise. I've got a photoshoot scheduled for Friday on a partial-pay, partial TF deal. I've had a few specific ideas that I wanted to run with, then got hit with a bit of inspiration today for something a little darker and sinister. Curbstomp comes to mind. Anyhow, I called the model to see if she would be okay with it,...

So my grumbling yesterday generated a wealth of feedback from friends, fellow photographers, and a few models. Most was on either FB or G+. Again, almost no response here other than a surprise comment from one of my favorite SGs.

But regardless, here's the new and improved MM profile based on that feedback.

I think the new profile is good. It made me take a look at mine, damn I need to put new pics up!!

I don't know if she's someone you'd be interested in for your project you have a casting call for, but Sedusa might be up for it.

ok i just saw your profile pic... Mickey Knox? If so you gotta check out my arm tattoo biggrin wink

I need to grumble. I had my first model flake out on me. I say flake, because it happened after rescheduling twice. The next morning, she sent me a text with three excuses in two sentences. Apparently, she wasn't feeling well, had to work late, and had to run errands. But she couldn't be bothered to tell me any of this before I sat at...

MM fucking sucks. I quit after a photographer from LA scheduled a shoot with me and never showed up, and having to deal with unreliable photographers who never sent me the pictures we shot but sold them to amateur sites instead of retouching them for magazines. Because of this I only work with photographers now that other models I know personally have had good experience with. I can imagine there are a lot of models who are equally unprofessional which must be frustrating for photographers as well!

Anyway, definitely go see Behind the Candelabra if you get the chance! I usually don't care much for Matt Damon in particular but my respect for him skyrocketed after seeing how convincing he was as Liberace's lover.
cassiekoi:
I feel like I've sent hundreds of emails on MM with little to no response, responded to "casting calls", and posted one or 2 myself and have only ever managed 2 shoots from the site (and one was set up through someone else, so I don't think it counts). The one that I did manage to set up was from a model who contacted me. I wasn't terribly excited to work with her after looking through her portfolio, but took it as a challenge... I don't use any of the images shot that day...

I think MM is a great concept, but it seems no one commits unless there is money involved. I wish there was a better way to network here, I always feel like there are girls that want shoots, but can't find the willing photographers. There was a weak attempt at putting together a SG Hopefuls shoot fest here in VA, but no one seemed to want to commit (the $$ had something to do with it too, I'm sure). I've thought about contacting Drave to see if she'd be interested in helping to set one up since she'd apparently been involved in them before; maybe that could help us all out with some networking?

Whenever I get nostalgic or reflective, I often find myself believing that of all the places I've called home, the one I'd lived in the shortest and felt the least attached to is the one that had the most profound impact on me. Nevermind that I spent the entirety of my "formative years" in the agro-industrial heart of America. Nearly every facet of who and...

I don't think any one place holds significance to me like that. I break my life into stages, I guess. I moved at the end of each school. After elementary, middle, and high school. I don't really belong anywhere.

The roses are going to be a bouquet. I'm making one with those colors and another with different colors. I need a lot of roses and don't want to run out when it comes time to make them.
deunan:
I think I'd go with a foam sphere for the base, and affix them to it, then add something to hold.

And the moves just happened to coincide with moving onto the next step in life/education. My parents bought a house, got divorced, etc.

So I'm finally setting in with a routine following the move-divorce-move-lawsuit-move whamatron. Even though I live in the sticks and my only viable internet comes from tethering my phone to my laptop, I've been making do. I found a great game store in Short Pump where I spend my Thursday nights fighting the evil imperium of man in Warhammer 40k, and I'm more active with...

Four. No, make that three. Today's almost over and I'm leaving right from work on Friday. Yes, that's right. I'm counting down the days until my crazy, great American photography-fueled road trip. Four days in the Smoky Mountains, Two days in Nashville with a side trip to the Corvette Museum and Mammoth Caves in Kentucky, Lunch in Memphis, and a week exploring the Mississippi Delta...

So it's been a while since I've posted. It's been a while since I've been online even. Life is good but some things suck.

In as few words as possible:

Divorce sucks. Starting to date again sucks. Learning to make homemade icecream rocks. Finding out that girl you ran track within high school is totally awesome, turned into a total hotty, and is totally into...

I like that this ended with life is good smile

Thanks, me too. I just had the realization the other day that everything that sucks right now is more of a growing pain or neccessary evil as things improve tremendously.

So I finally came up with a unifying theme for my Warhammer 40k armies (Do you know how hard it is to unify Chaos when your name isn't Abbadon?). It's a little cheesey, but I don't care, it's pure fun and I'm going to run with it. I am still working out the details on some of the lesser worlds. You may quickly recognize some...

I hate outage season. Fortunately, things are picking up at work so I've only got two weeks, maybe three, left on 72-hour hell weeks. Until then, drudgung on.
