isn't it disturbing how people in the stands at baseball games fight over balls hit to them?
i have to urge all of you to check out eckhart tolle. i have his cd, the power of now, which is also available in book form, and it provides information essential to finding peace. really, like anybody can use this. it doesn't have to be somebody who is really depressed. you know, because everybody everybody has problems in their life, everybody hurts, and what this guy is saying can really guide you and let you know how to deal with things. you may think you know how to deal with things, and maybe you do, but it always helps to have positive reinforcement. most of the things he talks about are really simple, yet they are things that you might never think of.
like basically what he's saying is that our mind is a great thing, but most people use it in the wrong way, or don't even use it at all. most people can't stop thinking. they've always gotta be thinking of something, always gotta keep the mind going to keep from going crazy right? to constantly be thinking is insane. it means you never find peace.
most people believe that they are their minds. think about it for a second. are you your mind? now observe the thought you are having. by observing the thought you are having, you are observing your mind. therefore you are not your mind. but most people believe they are their minds. it's almost like being posessed without knowing it because you take the possessing entity to be yourself.
to break the pattern of identifying with your mind, observe it. then you realize you are not your mind. a whole new level of consciousness comes into being in this way.
when you disidentify with your mind then you can start to live in the present. that is the power of now. do you find yourself thinking about the past often? do you have regrets? is there pain coming from something that happened in the past? for most people you can probably say yes to all of these questions on some level. well to identify with the past means you are identified with your mind, because the only way that the past can live on is in your mind. die to the past every moment. the only salvation lies in the present moment. no change ever happened in the past or the future, only in the now. the present is all there is.
does any of this interest you? this is just a summary of some of the stuff that eckhart tolle talks about in the power of now. i know, i sound like an infomercial right now. but i'm telling ya this is really great fucking shit! i'd be really happy to know that i clued somebody into this, because if you practice it, it can really change your life.
goodnight
