I find it amazing that it's been over a month, and yet it feels like nearly no time has past. I guess it goes with the territory of fledgling physicians.
Slowly working my way into the being an active and participating member of the incredibly intimidating community here on SG. Intimidating because I'm typically, and quite obviously, the rather typical shy but yearning male. I figure today is an opportunity to publicly declare the turning of a new leaf, and the drive to transition from fly on the wall to at least that odd but at least curious bump in the rug. Okay okay, so I had NO idea where that off the wall metaphor was going. All I really stand to do is highlight out incredibly strange it and awkward I've made it.
In other news, I'm counting down the days till my first inking session. Absolutely stoked!
I'm working on a pair of ravens to wrap around my shoulder. Taken from the notion, and have since probably warped the idea, from Norse Mythology. Odin's raven's Huginn and Muninn. The idea is that they represent Thought and Memory and each morning are sent into the world to experience and gather knowledge. Shaped by what they see, but constantly adding to the collection of experiences. Not without the risk of never returning. I chose this idea because I just finished grad school and see myself in the position to where I have to have faith that to embrace all the experiences and collect all the knowledge I can despite the risks.
I see it as very apt given the fact that I just graduated from med school, have recently begun an entirely new career path (for real reals), and did it while moving half way across the country with no idea what to expect or anyone to join me.
To the future SG, to the future *clink*
