this started out as a response to kopper's journal but grew out of my control, so here it is, more fully developed.
insomnia. brain too switched on. yeah, tell me about it. as absolutely beat as i am today, when i tried to nap earlier, i got nothing. now it's 2.20am and i'm still up, still typing, still thinking.
not sure i'll be able to put this weekend into words. some weird shit occurred inside my head over the course of the last 4 days, and it's drastically hampering my ability to calm my thoughts down. it's also hard to divorce that weird mental / emotional stuff from the events that were unfolding alongside, which is why you may not be getting much of a story about all of this.
i think maybe what happens is, the booze keeps me from being able to think about any of this stuff, and when i'm not drunk or hung over (rare these last few days) my brain is trying to make up for lost time. i'm frankly almost positive that's what the issue is. probably not going to be resolved any time soon, as i have 1 day to take care of a lot of things (tomorrow) before i leave for texas for a week, during which time basically no progress will be made. a bit of a pickle.
alright, you get the brief version of the weekend -- ready? here it is (now updated with a few more details):
friday, went to detroit, met kopper and mynka, bowled, saw the paybacks, supagroup, and the star spangles. during the paybacks set, the singer for the star spangles passed out drunk, on his feet, leaning against my back. someone eventually came and took him away before he fell over.
saturday, kopper, mynka, and i ate breakfast at some pretty crap diner, parted ways, and i drove back to chicago. had dinner with my roommate and dollface, roommate and i went to see the paybacks and supagroup.
sunday, drove to madison to see, once again, the paybacks and supagroup. mike from the paybcks caled me before i left to let me know i'd be on the guest list +1 in madison. score. dollface went with me. tunnelslats was supposed to meet us there but didn't make it. after the show, partied with said rock bands and some locals until some late hour, then back to the hotel for sleep.
today, drove home. now fully exhausted.

i'll be watching the proverbial radar for that chick you mentioned, i always dig seeing up and coming artists that you know "are going to be huge"... my wife had been a big fan of blink's for years, she was the one that got me into them around chesire cat... she actually has that album where it still says "blink" sans the 182... she saw them open up a show down in san diego with no doubt.. they were both opening for unwritten law... crazy...
my alcohol abuse probably stems from a form of self medication.. have to be careful of that shit..
