Been pretty tired recently - not sure how much of that is ramping back up into activities vs normal post-surgery (x2!) fatigue vs some hormonal or nutrient imbalances from surgery/ongoing health stuff, or likely some combination of all of the above.
but, despite the fatigue, things have been mostly good! I’ve gotten some quality time in with friends recently, have been spending time outside hiking and easing back into running, and trying to get back to regularly working on creative projects 🙂
Also! A new tattoo! Added some globe mallow, my fave native wildflower, to my leg! I also got my firefly tattoo touched up and added my niece’s heartbeat below it.
I don’t know if I’ve ever shared the story of my firefly tattoo here, but it was the first tattoo I got after moving to San Diego back in 2013. Before moving, I spent my last night in NY at my brother’s house playing in the yard and chasing fireflies with my niece. I was missing her a whole lot after moving and got the tattoo to keep her close to my heart while we were physically far.
I posted a bit ago when I was in the midst of it, but youngest niece passed away last month. She was only 16. There’s an ongoing criminal investigation, and it was (and continues to be) a very traumatic experience for my whole family. Spent a couple weeks in the hospital with her and my brother and SIL. The hospital staff recorded her heartbeat for us and also gave us printouts, so felt natural to add to the tattoo I already had for her.
Grateful for all the community support my brother my family and myself have had through it, though.
