The last few weeks have been a nice consistent burst of creativity. After wanting to learn for years, I finally pulled the trigger and started sun printing. Also after wanting to for years - I finally bought a typewriter.
I’ve also been taking weekly pottery classes which have been super fun, and joined a songwriting prompt group which has been socially complicated (tldr, a girl in the group used to be a friend but we had a falling out a few years ago. I thought we ended on a mutual “it’s best we not be friends as there’s some compatibility issues but there’s no ill will here” note, but apparently there’s a lot of ill will over me not being a fundamentally different person to appease her.) but I think mostly good. I will admit I don’t think I’m all that talented musically - but I enjoy it, and it’s been nice to have a group that provides some support, accountability, and encouragement so that I can be more productive regardless of the output quality. Over the last couple weeks I finished writing and recording my first complete song. It’s a lil rough, but it was a great experience and I’m proud.
The prompt this round was “Star Sign.” The first verse and chorus came to me quickly, then I wrestled with the rest until I decided to have it be about the story of Achilles and Patroclus (am a Greek mythology nerd).
