This past weekend I went to my first game con - PAX South, in San Antonio. I've been going to geek conventions for a loooonnnggg time - comic cons, anime cons, steampunk cons, sci-fi/fantasy cons....but have somehow never made it to a gaming con before now. Granted, I don't game as much as I used to due to the time constraints of being...

I like that Rothfuss is giggling while you lay across him. Classic!

I realized I haven't written a thorough blog since this one, and I've had several people reach out recently and ask how I'm doing. Thank you <3. Honestly - things are pretty good.

I have a bad habit of bottling things up. I think I'm not alone in saying that when things are bothering me, I tend to get caught up just...

I'm gonna go on for a bit about a lot of personal thoughts I've been having. So. Fair warning, this is a long one. I'm also going to admit that I'm not really looking for advice, but I more just need to organize my thoughts and put them out in the world so that maybe I can give myself a bit...

You will find your way!ย  Very articulate!
waitformetoturnblue:
So Iโ€™m only now seeing this post, and I have so many things I want to say, but Iโ€™m lacking the mental fortitude to articulate them correctly. That said, I will say this: I identify 100% with the writing thing. Our backgrounds on that front are very differentโ€”you went to college and have been better in the past about nourishing that passion of writing as more than mere hobby, whereas I've only picked it back up in the last few years, and hadnโ€™t done anything remotely ambitious since HSโ€”but the โ€œadviceโ€ from peers, friends, family (itโ€™s not a โ€œrealโ€ living, etc.) itโ€™s almost verbatim what Iโ€™ve heard all my life. And it sucks, because I allowed it to sink my desire to put effort into something I genuinely believe Iโ€™ve gotten pretty damn good at for never having had any formal training or guidance (I literally learned how to write from reading, and nothing elseโ€”no classes, no course studies, no guidance). My raw talent is still there, thankfully. I have seen the refinement of that talent slowly decompose from a lack of commitment to it, however. So I empathize a great deal, especially in the sense of not having a lot of time freed up to do it. So, in a nutshell, on that particular front, at least, I get you loud and clear. Iโ€™m glad I took the time to read this. It needs to be read by anyone that has suffered on multiple fronts, and their passions have been sacrificed as a result. Iโ€™m proud of you. I have so much more to sayโ€”and I will say itโ€”in regards to the other things you touched on here, but not tonight. Tonight, though, I couldnโ€™t be prouder to know you, however tangentially, and this blog moved me in ways I really cannot accurately represent to you right now. I hope one day I can explain it better. โค๏ธ
