I missed my acupuncture appointment yesterday but made it to library orientation.
I love it already. We start out in the childrens section, part of which does not take much organization. The block books just need to be placed on the shelf anywhere, where they don't squish each other.
My next training is next Tuesday. As you learn a new section, you get a color coded sticker on your volunteer name badge, authorizing you to sort books for that section.
Holy shit is this for me. OCD organizing and getting to put things away. AND YOU GET STICKERS for a job well done!!!!!!!!! Yay rewards.
As we were practicing in the childrens section, I couldn't help but glance through titles. I have a feeling I am going to be checking out a lot of childrens books in the next few months. I feel like I missed out. My mom took us to the library but didn't read much to us. I learned to read right before kindergarten and it was a struggle. There are so many books I wish I could have read!
Going to the library on a weekly basis will also help me return books on time, which I am bad at (there is usually one I can't find!)
So... what else... I hate religious programming, flipping through channels on my 30 minute (per a 12 hour shift) break I came across a preacher promising people new kidneys if they believe in jesus. Oh, and the other program (there are so many!) the preacher was praying for jebus/god to grant (count it) 1000 miracles in a 90 day period giving people a 1000 dollar "seed" money which they should "plant" (IE give to the religious program) in order to spread the word. Oh- he also mentioned that if you happen to have 1000 jesusroos stashed away for a rainy day, you should give it up to the lord and trust him to pay you back a thousand fold... Anyone else find this fishy.
New kidneys and an interest rate you can't believe on your savings. Fuck that noise.
I can see my grandma falling for something like this, and it makes me sick.
So China is creating a million new jobs a month. Go China. Things will be changing dramatically in the next few years. Also, communities are growing local gardens in an ever increasing rate. Go us.
Jon is doing very well on advancing his bow skills. I am pretty much useless once shit hits the fan, as without access to medicine and technology, I am pretty much useless. I Might be able to stop bleeding from a gaping wound but that it pretty much my limit.
Hmmm... time to DIY on a major scale.

I think I saw part of that "seed money" program. I admit to tuning in to these shows once in a while just to see what line of crap they're peddling to the faithful that day. It does just amaze me how often blind faith seems to prevail over common sense in america even in the 21st century. Why does begeebus need money for new kidneys anyway, did he lose the blueprints for when he made the first ones and needs to do some R & D?
