The hours are growing shorter! I am so ready to pack for my weekend getaway! Although it does make me a bit sad. The oil spill on our Gulf Coast is getting closer and closer. This will be the last weekend for me to get to enjoy my much beloved Gulf Coast. I plan to dig my toes in deep and enjoy it before BP manages to destroy it all. I am going to take tons of pictures so I can remember it just as it was. Our local economy is going to a suffer. We are a region that relies on oysters, shrimp, and tourism. All of those are lost if this oil reaches our shores, and judging by the fact that they can't seem to figure out how to stop it, it isn't looking good. So far only 2 birds have had to be rescued and they are fine, but the slick hasn't made it in yet. I realize the importance of offshore drilling and am grateful for the jobs it creates and the ability to enjoy riding my gasoline driven vehicles, but the cost is astounding when you think about the marine life and plants that are going and have been affected. Makes me feel ill. So I will bask in the love of the waves and sand for one last time for a while. ~SIGH~
