Dear Senator,
I received your message regarding the Combat Meth Act of 2005, S.103. I believe that throwing money at our nation's drug problem like this is unwise. This money would be much better spent on addressing the source of the problem than prosecuting drug users. More police and more equipment has proven over the decades to NOT be the answer to this problem, and we need to learn from our mistakes.
We pour so much of our country's money on punishing drug users, and could spend a fraction of that on treating them instead.
I am unhappy with your stance on this issue and urge you to take a more progressive approach, looking to other countries for more successful models of dealing with the drug problem. Treating our addicts as individuals with an illness instead of criminalizing their sickness is the first step toward beating the problem.
Sincerely,
Scrot0r!!!
BTW: They might make me change my name here so they can give it to a new girl =(
