I forgot to mention it in my last post, so here is another!
Instead of volunteering at the Pit Bull rescue, I decided to continue with my good deeds in another way. I am now the proud momma of a Pittie! I adopted a Pit mix (believed to be a Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier) in September from a rescue in Arkansas. She was on the list to be euthanized when I heard about her. She looked terrible. I won't include her original photo because it is honestly that shocking. She was found wandering a rural area and animal control picked her up. Based on her condition, the rescue and veterinarians believe she was used as a breeder for a dog fighting ring before she was used as a bait dog. I believe she escaped rather than was dumped due to her fear of weapon-shaped objects.
She's a medical mess, but will hopefully be a medical marvel very soon. We're working on solving her allergy problems, which is the last straw before she receives her clean bill of health. YAY! She's been very expensive in that regard, but it's worth it. She has a wonderful personality and her past hasn't changed the way she interacts with others.
Her name is Phoebe. Check her out.
