I'm really sorry I haven't been a great friend lately - I've been terrible at getting back to everybody. I want to thank each and every one of you who left kind words, or thought sweet thoughts about my family & so far this month. When I have time, I re-read them... I very much appreciate you guys, srsly.

Updates

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I apologise for the point form here, I'm just not in a paragraphy mood.

* after several revisions, the obituary I composed for my Grandfather was approved and posted in the local paper. Now, some of you know that I was married to a mortician once upon a time - I'm used to hearing about how ridiculously high death-related costs can be, I was not at all prepared for what the paper charged us for that ad. Good gravy.

* the internment of my grandad's ashes was on Saturday. It was kind of sprung on me... I had expected it would be after his "party," not before. Just our immediate family was there, the 8 of us (my younger brother opted out). It was a lovely day, my uncle was the one to place his father's ashes in the niche in the wall. I received a small amount of the ashes in a small container. I'm still kind of on the fence on how I feel about that whole experience at the cemetery, so that's all I'm gonna say right now.

* my free time this past week has been spent making a memorial tribute dvd of all my grandfather's photos set to some of his favourite music. I'm also making a memory book for guests to sign and to leave a little memory about him (I realise I may have to pester people to get them to do this, lol) - I bought a scrapbook and printed off a bunch of photos to stick in it. I thought it'd be nice to have something to hold on to, after all of the kerfuffle has gone and we're without all the well-wishers around.

* the "party" is this upcoming Saturday. My grandmother made a list of people she thought would come to the tea and the number came to about 60, so we planned to be serving about 70 people. Fine and dandy. BUT, today we were at the senior's center (where Grandad used to participate in a weekly sing-along) and they had his tea ADVERTISED on the front desk with his obituary photo. If the "friends" from sing-along come, we're looking at double our number. Eeek.

Soooo, I'm kind of hoping for things to level out within the next couple of weeks. I understand that I'll be doing more stuff in the daytime with my grandmother, which is just fine by me. I guess I just want some sort of normalcy in my life - it's been an emotional few weeks.

Good Good Things

* Heckler is back from the Download Fest. I missed him a whole big bunch. I'm glad he went, of course (he works so hard, he deserved a vacation - plus he got to go with his sisters and camp, which was great), but I must admit I was a little extra sigh-y with my family while he was gone. I was a mopeypants wifout my fella.

* I'm still loving my care attendant job biggrin One of the other girls had to leave her position, due to sleep issues (we work overnights and we do get to sleep, but it's interrupted often). Sunday night I agreed to take on one of her nights on a permanent basis, so my work week will be extended to four nights. This is awesome because I could *really* use the money.

* Even though my divorce was sent back (again... this is the third time), I quickly made the corrections and the papers are ready for the lawyer to see this week... again. I'll have them mailed off by the end of the week. I'm feeling positive that this time it'll work.

* My mom was able to find this little pond that she used to take me to when I was little... I'll take pics really soon. It's kind of hidden away and it took us awhile to find it again. We used to feed the ducks there all the time, and the ducks at this pond will come right up and take the food from you. It was a very special place to me when I was little... it's kind of like my mom took one of my childhood memories and plunked me back in it.

* I took a walk to a lake near where I grew up (which is really only a few minutes from where I live now) and took some pics. There are ducks there as well... I have a thing for ducks, I guess. My grandparents used to take me there often when I was little, and by the time I was about 10 I started going on my own and with friends, and even volunteering at the "nature house" they have there. The last time I can remember being there was when I did a summer camp for kids there when I was 17. It's still beautiful, and it makes me happy to go there

Thanks I'm sure I'll enjoy it. It'll be my first Pride Fest as an out of the closet bisexual. I have a bunch of friends to hang out with, so it'll be cool smile
