I love my new job!
I'm doing respite care now, which is something I've always thought I'd like to do. Yes, of course I'd like to be working with animals full time, but this is really great too. Not only is it an awesome & rewarding job, get this - I get to sleep. Yah, that's right, I sleep at work. I get paid to sleep. Granted, I have to get up several times in the night, but I have my own room, my own bed... it's so awesome. I love it I love it I love it! The family I am working with is quite possibly the nicest family ever
I quit working at the boarding kennel. Not only was the physical labour too much for my bad hip, but I didn't like how the management was more focussed on cleanliness/sterilization than they were about the dogs & cats. I realize that having a clean environment for the dogs is very important, but some days the poor things barely had any human interaction
It was heart-breaking. I actually stayed after my shift and took some of the dogs out on my own time.
Let's see... what else is going on?
My baby brother turned 19 yesterday, which makes me feel very old. See, we were born a decade apart, and now he's all growed up. Nineteen is when you officially become an adult Canada-wide - you can drink, smoke, and vote - so this was a big day for him. We had a small party for him here with the family, which was great. Our estranged father did show (he does sometimes for bdays), and he brought our baby sister - who is just sooooooooooooooooooo sweet! Jay is just five years old, and in Kindergarten
Our friend AsciraHalcyon and her hubby came to partay too, along with two sets of grandparents, an uncle, and of course our household of five was there too. There were cake, presents and balloons.... and for anyone who hasn't been here for a party, the balloons are really the very best part, lol. We get a little aggressive when it comes to balloons though... lightsabers have been known to be drawn. After everyone left, we smoked some weed and watched How I Met Your Mother. He also smoked the HUGE cuban cigar our cousin brought us back from his recent trip.
This is a pic of us from the summer, with our other sister Amy.
I'm getting married in less than three months...
OH MY GOODNESS... I'M GETTING MARRIED IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS!
Let the freaking out commence, lol. I'm very very excited to get married, but oh man... I guess I better get on the planning, hadn't I? I'm going to spoiler how things are going with that so far, just in case you don't find wedding plans to be particularly enthralling
