Climbing Trees*

need the drug
need my home
need the army to hold me down
felt the weight of the mountains and the treasured place he found
so that boy is long gone
a thousand fighting
and he is flying
i do know where i am
for so long
my purpose was yours

water and lightening
and all i can think of is falling
circles around
the ladies of the road.

passing
leading
fleeting
underground
collecting stars

sometimes i really feel it.
sometimes i really see it.
and i know
my home is far from here
far from the boys
who tell it like it is.

some people sleep
and others drown
She'll lead me to those waters
where people dream to drown
where smiles only surface
and their misery is painted into morning.
