I'm working too much. I've lived in CA now for a year and I don't even know the names of all the main streets in this town. I might as well be a tourist. Or just passing through. Except that I have an apartment and all the things that fill it up. Somehow it all seems empty...

You really ought to join SGVacaville, and go out to the Cabin sometime when threelessthanten works.

When I was young I was spellbound by words. The richness that a collection of words could convey. The way writers could build worlds and characters, drawing you in page by page. Or the way a poet or lyricist could make them play on a page.

Words have been on my mind lately. I haven't had a chance to read in a couple of years....

My old sets are pretty crappy, so they could only be really small, but the new set could be printed fairly large.

It's good to have the internet at home. It's good to come home and hang out online. Or pay bills. Or just be random. Now if only I can get my wireless router to work with my cable modem.
marge:
Yeah, you've been awfully quiet lately.

I'm the opposite -- I finally have a laptop and I am reveling in the wonder of being able to have internet outside of the home. Homework not longer has to be homework -- it can be coffeeshop work!

Not much to report. 2007 should be a good year. January is already rolling by in a blur. February is always short and then all of a sudden we're headed into summer. Time seems to be accelerating. Maybe I'm just getting old. More and more I find myself asking "was that really 5 years ago?" or "was that really 10 years ago?"

It's strange posting here. I've been gone so often for so long now. There's a new year around the corner. There'll be a new year. I need a marker, someplace to turn around from. It's all in my head but the new year makes me hopeful. The new year plays tricks on my mind, letting me entertain vague notions that change is on its way....

Nothing to report. Still no internet at home. I wander around the odd coffee shop but it's not the same. I think I'll get the net soon though. It's driving me crazy. I can't handle not being able to surf the web -it's really one of the main ways I kill time. Well, I hope I can get around to being more active on the...

PrizeBox Coffee -where no one really cares what I do. It's actually quite nice. I get a table towards the back, pay my bills, read my email, and now and then they remember to bring me the sandwich I ordered. I forgive them though because I'm a sucker for coffee shops not named Starkbucks. Or some other national chain (disclosure: I do like Beaners which...

This update is brought to you courtesy of Box Car Coffee shop -or something like that. Nice little place. Always empty and of course, free WI-FI! Someday I'll have internet at home. Sigh.

In the meantime I'm pretty much restricted to paying my bills and answering important (ok, vaguely important) emails. I'm only on about once a week. A little strange because usually pretty compulsive...

Prize Box, my friend. Cable Car is on the other side of town.

DSL installation is a bitch. It took them 3 weeks to get us an appointment for install and then a few weeks past that to actually get the connection running.

Your assessment of Vegas was pretty much spot on. I don't drink, gamble or pay to look at titties (oh, wait) so much of the allure has simply been in people watching and examining the architecture - which is beautiful but just translates to illuminated dollar signs that spell out 'funded by suckers.'

Check out the SGSac group - Halloween party is coming up and there are a lot of new faces showing up (albeit nearly unrecognizable in costuming, I'm sure) if you wanted to find out what we are all about without feeling like you're jumping in alone. Fair warning - if you come, bring your Twister shoes.

Still no internet at the new place so I'll be haunting coffee shops for a little bit longer. Hopefully, I'll have a good connection soon.
marge:
There is a coffee place called Prizebox in the Raley's shopping center right by your new place. They have wireless, I believe. Also, if you follow Alamo down toward the freeway on-ramp, there is a 21 hour donut shop on the right hand side called Happy Donuts (21 hour. I know, right? I think it is closed from 7-10 PM or something) that also claims to offer wireless.

I love how I am know-it-all talking you through your transition into this shit hole town.
